Having Fogarty and Sladojevic with Rankine, Rozee and Hately running through the middle wouldn't be too bad either. All potentially goal kicking midfielders.
True, but good KPPs are much harder to find than midfielders.

Havent seen a whole heap of Sladojevic play mind you

Seriously cheer up Mike. Not loving your whinging right now bud!
If we lose Gov we will get Lukosius - the best young forward since Riewoldt. We have Darcy Fogarty who will eventually be a gun full forward and Daniel Sladojevic coming through next year, Borlace the year after.
Key forwards and third tall forwards are not a list problem for us. Midfielders are.

Edit: losing Gov will be our choice as we will have already secured agreement to get Lukosius.
I couldn't give a rats ass what you think mate. You spin it anyway you want Gov leaving would be a disaster.

Get your head out of the sand, no way are we getting Luko unless we finish bottom 3.

Talk about ground hog day.

True, and I would absolutely love, love, love to get Luko. But getting A-grade mids is not that easy. This is our chance to get some A-graders into our team. I think three A-grade goal kicking A-grade mids is better for us than one superstar forward. Gold Coast and Tom Lynch is the example that comes to mind. Especially since we can already build our forward line around Fogarty and potentially add this Sladojevic. Although, I think people are going way to early on Sladojevic.

Might be a bit the case with Fogarty too, I just hope the expectations some of you guys are putting on the lad are deliverable. Darcy's still a kid with big potential not the finished product just yet.

True. But he is tracking well. Sladojevic has yet to even reach Fogarty's level of potential. My point was we dont know if he will even go first round, so its early to put him in our greatest forward line of all time.

I think the line should be..we have a very promising KPP player in the NGA that we hope keeps improving in his U18 year next year and if he does then it will be good for us (or now maybe not if the rules are to change?)

Actually you know what I think you're right. this whole mess has rattled little Mikey Smyth and I think he needs to give himself a little self imposes temporary ban.

See ya in a few weeks. Stay gold PonyBoy.

edit: If you want Luko pray for bottom 3.

Wait. What? Has something happened to screw us?
The Next Gen Academies in WA and SA didn't cover many areas of indigenous players while the Vic ones did. The proposed solution (proposed by West Coast) is to allocate all areas to a club...but eliminate bidding in the first 30 picks (for all clubs). Therefore if a Top 30 talent is identified, anyone can draft them.

Eliminates draft distortion but also incentive for the academies.

Please, rumours have it we wanted a 400x3 year contract for Lynch, we get a shit tonne of bad press and then he gets the deal he was after.

There is panic coming out of every orifice of this deal.
Why do people in here insist on stating garbage as if they know the facts? It’s a RUMOUR. You have no fecking idea. Jesus H Christ.

Remind me what we've won again.
2 flags, 3 GF’s, numerous Prelims and many finals series, never winning a wooden spoon and never bottoming our for years in a row.
In AFL history it stacks up as reasonably successful.
You’re obviously not a glass half full man but more of a “I’m so miserable I’ve thrown all my glasses at the TV” kinda bloke.
My point is that at the height of all of these accumulative “walk outs” we made a GF and were the best team all season.

In the last 20 years, we're essentially the same as St Kilda, without the "bottoming out" bit, which is largely irrelevant anyway because many sides strategically bottom out and it results in flags. Do you reckon people go "Yeah, Collingwood won a flag in 2010, but they bottomed out to get it so it's not as good"?

Yep. St Kilda.

We need to be very careful here. Which club do you think is the best at hiding and talking down players before they draft them?
The top 30 pick idea won’t impact WC as they will identify and then hide them away. Will become very common practice, only WC are already very good at it.

And Port. Especially Port Lincoln way where many of the great indigenous SA players have come from. We will not fare well with this change.

Yep. St Kilda.
St Kilda have bottomed our twice and haven’t won a flag. Carlton numerous times and still haven’t won a flag from doing so, that’s my point about bottoming out.
In AFL history, premierships from 1990 on-
Hawthorn 5
Geelong 3
West Coast 3
Brisbane 3
Sydney 2
Collingwood 2
Essendon 2
North Melbourne 2
Adelaide 2
Carlton 1
Port 1
Richmond 1
Bulldogs 1

So any club could claim to be as successful as us. This shows it helps more than hurts. Hawks flags were built on bottoming out. West Coast's last one as well IIRC.
