I wonder what the AFL would even do if we did pay Belinda an inflated amount to host the TV shows we produce to save cap space. Brenton Ragless is the highest paid presenter on Adelaide TV and he would be nowhere near $500k.

Would the AFL have the stones to call out our club for such a thing. Publicly devaluing Belindas value in the media?

Does she know anything about boats. Media relations executive for BAE Systems and their new $35 billion navy frigates contract.

Is it that hard to make a locally produced TV comedy show about a new mum, trying to raise her child, advance her career whilst being married to a gun footballer?

Belinda knows best.

It cannot be that hard to do. Plus they could have a recurring character called "Koo Koo Kane"

:fearscream: I was talking about his rich cousin. Not the club ambassador, that would be draft tampering or something illegal that would get the club in trouble.

Like Trigg did.
Oh, shit... and now I’ve gone and let the cat out of the bag!.

They would call Belinda's inflated salary "fair" but strip us of all our first round draft picks anyway, give us a massive fine and prevent us from earning premiership points in 2019.

They'd then let Tom Lynch go to Richmond as a free agent and tick off his $1m+ outside the cap media deal in a split second

Realistically any related party payments made by the club should be included in the cap. Could be its own category with it's own cap. But it wouldn't be exceptionally difficult to police.

Media obligations are already included, but only if it filters through the club. What if Eddie's contacts in victoria were still paying players for non-football related media gigs... but it was disclosed and capped?

Not that this last bit would be easy to police I might add. Borderline impossible.

would never happen.

Players association would definitely argue its restraint of trade as suddenly it'd limit their external earning power, and how do you know/draw the line at what is because of the club connection and what is because of the players own profile. Then it gets messy when you say x player (lets call him Dangerfield) has a bigger profile and external earning potential because he is playing for a victorian club than he did/would at another club (lets call them Adelaide).

If it were to happen then it'd have to be like footy department spend where there is a soft cap, but then the problem is clubs are penalised for bringing in high profile players so just won't happen.

If there was more money in interstate markets than Vic then the AFL would put a lot of resources into working out a solution

Instead of buying a baseball team, the club should buy the rights to Humphrey

Belinda likes wineries right? Get Crows to buy Bird in the Hand or whatever its called and make her an ambassador.

Judd really did believe in the Visy brand after his new contract.

On [device_name] using BigFooty.com mobile app
I hate to think what Bird in Hand is worth these days. I remember when it was a new, little winery. :)

Crows probably can't afford it!

This is my first comment in here for ages, possibly ever.

Hasn't Sloane waited until after the end of the season every time his contract's up for renewal. I thought he said that exact phrase during the hullabaloo period leading up to his last re-contracting.

it was around this time last time and he did reference that early in the year. I think it was mid-late June but im sure someone will know.Reckon we've got 2 weeks for those with some glimmer of hope still until we have to fully become resigned to the fact.

Had the most vivid dream last night;

That last quarter spurred a second half of the season 'us against the world' revival, Crows go 9-0 into finals, where they end up playing in a GF rematch, Sloane has a kick after the siren to win the GF, wins the Norm Smith Medal. And while on the podium thanking everyone he calls his manager up to hand him the contract which he signs and then screams 'CROW FOR LIFE BABY!!!!!'

It was a very good dream!

Back at the start of 2012 I had a dream that GWS beat Port. I told my Port-supporting colleague about it the following day and we had a good laugh about it. She wasn't laughing a few months later when it actually happened :p
