Game of Thrones phantom draft

I think Tywin Lannister deserves a mention. Great leader who always battles through adversity despite the odds.

I hear his skills go down the toilet when he's matching up against his family though.

I think The Red Viper might be a late rounder at best; a tagger who lets his opponent die of leather poisoning. Matched up well against Gregor Clegane though.

Edmure Tully might be worth a look. Captaining a contender at his age. If only his accuracy were up to snuff he'd be a top 10 pick.

sandor clegane a good pick for a team looking for a premiership. not too loyal, but he loves the contest. wouldnt be a good tagger though. if his opponent catches fire he will be no where to be seen.

what about king robert. built like a jason dunstall and just gobbles up the footy.

Where is the love for Daenerys?

Surely worth a late pick.

Pros:
Comes from good bloodlines.
Strong Leadership potential
Completely fearless and highly competitive
Spoke well at the interview phase
"I am Daenerys Stormborn and I will take a premiership with fire and blood"

Cons:
Will need to control her fiery temperament
Can be flighty and easily distracted
Could get easily homesick (despite never actually having lived at home)
Project player, will take too long to develop and show any payoff. Also, discipline is an issue.

Another possible late to rookie pick is Ser Davos. He can sail through stormy matches. Although intelligent, he may struggle with instructions written on the board during team meetings and has been known to question his leadership group and coaching staff. This is not due to any lack of team loyalty, rather an innate common sense when it comes to the game. May also struggle due to finger injury on one hand.

7. Ned Stark

One does not simply.. ignore a player of this calibre at pick 7. Regarded by some as the second best player in the draft, Ned Stark is tall, strong and just does everything well, and has genuine leadership qualities. Capable of playing anywhere, but probably better suited to defence.

Look all the Stark boys could end up F/S with the Dogs. Cruel to say it but Bran looks like he doesn't have the legs for senior footy, Rickon however would be tempting in a few years.

edit -oh Pie, you pipped me on the Bran legs gag.

Where is the love for Daenerys?..

Derek Hine for one was concerned about getting burnt taking a player from outside traditional football states.

Targaryen has some great weapons, capable of being the most damaging player in the game, just a question of whether she can use them effectively.

True brans legs may be shot but in important moments he seems to grow wings and his vision(s) are second to none

Think Jaime Lannister may slide due to injury...

But you are happy with Ned Stark's selection at #7 ??? I hear he totally lost his head at the combine when he was put to the sword during the interview process ................
