Huh... Rewatched the scene from episode 5 between Sansa and Littlefinger. It was mostly her chewing him out for Ramsay's abuse. He mentions that the Blackfish's Tully forces could come in useful, but I thought they belong to the Lannisters now? Never saw him mention sending troops to fight Ramsay.

Ah nevermind, just saw the later scene where she asks Brienne to go fetch the troops. But I thought Brienne was unsuccessful in that effort?

So confused.
There was another scene in a different (I think) episode….. if I recall correctly it was prior to the Sansa / Littlefinger meeting.

Hands up who remembers Littlefinger arriving back at The Vale in a carriage. Little Bitty-boy Robyn is unsuccessfully attempting to learn archery and he rushes to hug "Uncle Peter"(wrapped around his little finger!!!) who apologies for missing his naming-day and presents him with some sort of kick-arse caged bird of prey as a present. There was a tense stand-off between Baelish and one of Cat Stark's relatives I believe, but it was uneasily resolved. The last line uttered in that scene was from Littlefinger himself with the prophetic….. "It's time for The Vale to enter the fray." Was always on!

For those who wanted a twist….

Enjoy this MSG coated polystyrene you whinging spanners. That episode was brilliant. Yes, the Vale Knights turning up was probably fore-shadowed, but not everything has to be the X-files. Why does there have to be a twist anyway? I thought one of Sansa, Thormund or Ser Davos would probably get wiped out, so if I was looking for a twist I probably got a good one!!

What twist(s) were people expecting?

I was surprised when the battle took place the following morning as agreed between Jon and Ramsay. Based on what Ramsay did to Stannis I was expecting him to attack during the night.

GoT loves a good 'arriving at the last minute' battle. Tywin at Kings Landing, Stannis north of the wall, the Dohtraki to Mereen...

For those asking why Rickon didn't zig-zag...

Running in a straight line is only good if you're fast, and you have cover nearby. Rickon was in an open field so running in an erratic pattern was better for the situation.

If you're trying to hit a moving target you aim for where the target is going to be, not where they are currently. If they are running in a straight line you can roughly calculate where the target is going to be and have more chance of a critical hit. If they are running in an erratic fashion then it's a lot harder as it's down to guesswork and luck.

Erratic running isn't gonna help much vs bullets like in the vid above, but vs arrows yeah for sure.

Yes, every time I'm running from a psychotic archer I tend to adopt the zig-zag pattern myself. That seems to be the sensible thing to do judging by all of the battle hardened posters in here who have fought in countless medieval stouches and lived to tell the tale.

It's a basic self-defence technique when running from a predator, not some medieval tactic.

If the person shooting at you doesn't know where you are going to be, it does make it harder to hit.

What should I do if someone punches the shit out of me, ties me to a chair and releases ravenous hounds into my cage?

Hope it's a quick death :p

Or at least hope you aren't alive when it gets to other parts of your anatomy

Wasn't really asking for a referendum on appropriate running techniques in combat situations fantasy or real bud, I just liked the scene :p
