Actually inclined to disagree. The books have become incredibly bloated, and in a lot of places you can tell GRRM just doesn't care anymore. When he wrote the History of Westeros book or whatever it's called, he gave a Lord and his son the names Kermit and Elmo because he could for shits and giggles.
Yeah you're probably right actually. Time may have erased from memory some of what the previous 2 books were like but overall I still prefer the extra depth you get from the books even accounting for that.

100%, love the universe he has created with the depth, but I think he's gone too deep lol.

As far as battle tactics

Jorah Mormont.

I get the feeling that after his talk with Little Bear and Sam giving him his family sword he's going to go down valiantly.

Bring him back in from the outer with the Mormont family and go from a zero to a hero in the families history.

Although if Little Bear and the 62 die there's no Mormont Army left.

Perfect ending would be if he dies saving little bear.

They have been out of mind and sight, but does Melisandre return this episode with some more Red peeps to join the battle?
She has to. Her entire purpose is to find Azor Ahai and defeat the night king...She left to collect her forces for this battle. Not turning up for the fight would make her entire story arc pretty empty.

She will turn up with an 'army' (hundreds, maybe a thousand) of flaming sword wielding religious fanatics. (that nobody knows they're coming is a problem, but it's not like 'teleportation' hasn't happened before.).

Thinking back on Season 7, anyone think the living are almost a little OP? The dragons can roast the undead, dragon glass kills white walkers so easily Sam managed to 1v1 one and come out on top, and Valyrian steel makes them explode and takes out their wights and they've got four of them (Jon, Brienne, Jaime and Jorah, although maybe Sam's sword isn't Valyrian? Can't remember).

The sheer numbers are in favour of the NK army, and the fact that they don’t have any fear , nor do they get injuries or tire out with their numbers constantly being added with each kill.

The humans are nowhere near OP they are a massive massive disadvantage even with the Dragons.

Rubbish. Humans only need to kill one of them. They have two dragons vs one even if Jon Snow is putting them on the bench. The wights are incredibly easy to kill. Just 6 fighters on a rock managed to kill thousands of them. Imagine how easy it will be for 1000 fighters to kill the wights. Humans also have dragonglass which seem to slice through white walkers like they are butter. This should be an incredibly easy win for the humans unless the humans choke.

Pffft humans get tired and injuries and overwhelmed

Just keep throwing waves after waves after waves and eventually they break.

They even said so in the council that they are vastly outnumbered and need to bait the NK to end it.

Anyone's interest would naturally wane in his spot. Spent 20 years laying the ground work for a series only for the more popular adaptation to spoil the broad strokes for the widest audience possible. But I don't think naming characters after muppets is any indication of that, that's just having fun with it.
Yeah, I think there are also some references to his favourite football team the giants and players too. Wun Wun is a reference to 11 the number his favourite player wore.

Not to mention every human that dies potentially becomes an enemy you have to kill. Adds to the physical demands and can **** you up mentally having to kill a friend or loved one who you just saw die
More addedpsychological trauma would be the knowledge that if they get you ... you know what you’ll become

**** fighting waves after waves and getting tired and mounting injuries and then boom...you see your wife, children and other family members lifeless and wanting to rip you apart

**** that

I saw an interesting theory where the Night King doesnt even appear in the battle, but has instead gone south to Kings Landing to take that first, THAT would be a twist.
The NK could get there on his dragon, but he wouldn't have an army at his back.

It takes months to walk from Winterfell to Kings Landing, and the Army of the Dead have been shadowed all the way by Thormund's little band - so we know they're all at Winterfell. The NK could raise an army from the dead in the cemetaries around KL, but that takes time - remember how long he spent roaming the north, gathering his Army of the Dead?
