They can be used to ram down the castle door as it has been seen before in the show

They can also haul projectiles aka boulders

But who knows how the NK will use them, the book has also hinted at other creatures in the NK army so it’ll be interesting if the add things we havent seen before aka dead giant spiders or something
Ramming doors doesn’t kill men on the walls though.

It means a weaken defence and with the giants inside it opens the flood gates for them to be overwhelmed...they can potential breach the walls to remove that defensive barrier for the army to flood in

A living giant is hard enough to kill, a dead one would be a nightmare

Who then can be shot down with javelins and then turned.
That can happen at any stage of the battle. May as well not even have the dragons in it if you are worried about spears. Its the risk taken with every soldier. Could have jon and dany on the dragon backs looking out for spears as a second set of eyes.

That’s why they are holding back the dragons and waiting for the NK to be baited by Bran before unleashing them

So it’s like a regular seige ram then. It’s still won’t affect the men at the wall whilst it’s not breached.

Too many mick malthouse and ross lyon types in this thread. Not enough malcom blights.
You want the dragons to be exposed and risk being taken down

Can you imagine the carnage of what three dead dragons will do?

Better to isolate the NK and distract him and then unleash the dragons with the risks removed

Only the white walkers have spears though so it can only happen when the white walkers are near. Which in that case go for it. If they’re not better of going on the defensive until they’re exposed.

The traps just make logical sense though, it’s slows them down so they get pelted with dragon glass and flaming arrows easier.

I’d also lay out a fire trap, douse an area outside the the castle with oil and light it just before the get there.
No I don't think so. Also, they have prepared a fire moat from memory.
You mean besides the NK and his ridiculous javelin?
Don't think so but he would have won gold at every Olympics if he put his mind to it but instead he devotes himself to evil. Waste of talent really.

Wouldn't have even had to have devoted himself. Could just rock up with no prep whatsoever and still throw it out of the stadium

A castle isn't that strong a defensive position when your opponent is already dead, and has giants.

We've already seen the NK organise his army to do manual labor, when he pulled the dragon out of the lake. There is nothing to suggest that he couldn't make his giants use a battering ram to break down the castle doors. At that point, the walls are irrelevant, as the Army of the Dead just swarms through the open door - and into the castle behind the defenders on the walls.

We saw how many arrows it took to kill Wun Wun, after the Battle of the Bastards. How do you kill an undead giant?

The opponent being dead is irrelevant. The gian can use a battering ram but he still has to make it to the wall. If you set enough traps beforehand and plot him with enough dragon glass and flaming arrows he won’t make it.

And there still the height advantage the wall gives the archers.

If you're using dragonglass for arrow heads, then you run out of arrows long before the dead run out of animated corpses.

100% this.

Two dragons flying overhead that are easily spotted vs how many hard to spot White Walkers with laser guided javelins? A dozen White Walkers? More? The dragons would get shot down from all angles in 2 minutes and then it would be 3 zombie dragons vs 0 living dragons.
