So what's the go with discussing the leaked ep? Should I avoid this thread til Monday?
No, spoiler tags for the early birds or GTFO (and if that's not good enough for them, there's this thread from 2 years ago).

The rest of us still have plot holes to discuss.

But seriously! Holy shit! That was some of the best TV viewing in years. Been waiting years for that moment
Is it the best episode of the whole show thus far? Compared to BotB, the destruction of the Sept, the Battle of Blackwater. It's definitely top 5 but I honestly think it might actually be the best of all.

I think the build up to it over the seasons added to how amazing that it was. Up until that I would have had BotB and The Red Wedding as my top 2.

Not to mention, the Brienne v Arya fight is the most epic single combat we've had since Oberyn v the Mountain...and it was a TRAINING SCRAP!
That Brienne is a crazy bitch, I think she must be one of those redheads who dyes her hair blonde. After Arya's first parry made her mad she started swinging that sword like she was trying to cut off her head!

She's lucky Arya has been so well trained or she would have killed one of the people she swore to protect.

Now that the excitement has worn off, some more detailed thoughts:

- Those waiting for the eventual Jamie redemption arc the wait might be over. Now most likely a prisoner of Dany, who's father he stabbed in the back to end the reign of the Mad King. Obvious reference was made to Tyrion not wanting to hurt his family early in the episode so his presence there is no coincidence. Expect him to defend Jamie from execution. It's either redemption or death now.

- Bran giving away to Littlefinger that he knows things. A strategic mistake? Littlefinger's full betrayal may never be revealed if this pushes him to make a stupid move to try and kill Bran.

- Good throwback to Arya's season 1 effort to get back into King's Landing. Her duel with Brienne was brilliant. Where to now for her though? Can't wait for her reunion with Jon.

- Davos knows exactly what Jon wants with Dany! Great scene between Jon and Dany in the cave...their inevitable boning grows closer yet.

- Theon's end game is now clear. Redemption via rescuing Yara and restoring the Greyjoys. Expecting a heroic sacrifice.

- Important to note the gold made it back to King's Landing. Cersei still well and truly in the fight with the Iron Bank now providing The Golden Company (I think it was?) as reinforcements.

- Drogon's injury. Doesn't look serious but important for Dany to know she will be up against them if she attacks Euron's fleet or King's Landing.

Overall the actual action scene was maybe on par with BotB. The episode as a whole though probably has claims as being the very best yet.

I think the kicker with The Golden Company coming into play is that it has come at the hands of the Lannister army. What's more, it's come at the hands of the grain - food is becoming a huge priority across Westeros, we've heard Sansa discussing it twice in two episodes and now it's been discussed in KL. Robert's prediction came true with that.

Let's say Viserys Targaryen lands with 40,000 Dothraki screamers at his back. We hole up in our castles. A wise move. Only a fool would meet the Dothraki in an open field. They leave us in our castles. They go from town to town, looting and burning, killing every man who can't hide behind a stone wall, stealing all our crops and livestock, enslaving all our women and children. How long do the people of the Seven Kingdoms stand behind their absentee king, their cowardly king hiding behind high walls? When do the people decide that Viserys Targaryen is the rightful monarch after all?

Noone can stop the horde, particularly with the kicker of three dragons on top of it.

Good pick up, they really have been hammering home the food thing. That father and daughter the Hound encountered was noted as dying of starvation as well. Goes with the episode title too - The Spoils of War.

Here we go again, you're basically excusing sloppy writing as who cares. Do you really think Jon didn't know the truth? That was a huge ******* moment to kickstart the rebellion.

I didn't think expecting continuity was that much to ask.
Jon Snow doesnt even know who his ******* parents are, yet you expect him to know the vagaries of the Mad King?

He knows nothing.

And honestly, if you were going to to reference any fallacies in that very same scene, perhaps focus on the words Dany said about how she was raped. You cant even nitpick right.

You can argue she was raped on her wedding night.

Arguing Jon doesn't know how his uncle died in one of the biggest events in recent Westerosi history is just stupid.
