i think what we will find as we get further into the season, is that guys such as simmo, houlihan, scotland, carrazzo, russel and co aren't really up to the mark. There will be games such as Sat nights where our best players dominate yet we lose, due to us carrying to many players.

With the emergence of talented players such as murphy, gibbs, kruez and then fev, judd and stevens - the not so talented players as mentioned above are really being found out.

Would love to see armfield and co given a game soon to see if they are up to it or not.

Agreed on most of the above mentioned. When a few of them are running around in the Bullants and we have young emerging players demanding a game I'll know we are going forward. Until then we'll battle unfortunately.

I think part of the reason our midfield is not accountable enough could be due to tiredness... Most teams this season are using the interchange bench 20+ more times a game than we are allowing their mids to be fresh so as they can help a bit more in defense...

Perhaps Ratten needs to look at using the bench a lot more?
The more you use the bench, the less the coach has control of the game (whatever game plan there is)
The coach has no control of who's going on and off.
We are still too young and inexperienced to go down that track. We need our coach continually reinforcing the day game plan to the players out on the field.

accountability, accountability, accountability... this is school boy stuff.

How hard is it to stay man on man.

If we are struggling to do this why not incorporate what the hawks do and play a length of the ground zone?

I honestly don't know what our game plan is?

How can you explain the fact that we dominated hard ball gets and clearances, our full forward kicked 8 goals, our million dollar man looks finally like a million dollars and our number 1 draft pick looks like a future champion, yet still lose?

Surely this comes down to the game plan and overall preperation?
No, just a complete lack of confidence.
You've heard the saying........if you could only bottle confidence you would be a millionaire.
You can't talk about getting confidence, there is nothing you can do to achieve team confidence other than JUST KEEP TRYING, it will come.
Look at Geelong in 2006.......had nothing and lacked that "something"
Twelve months later the same bllody side is considered the best team since West Coasts hay days.
Go figure...................it's just the gaining of confidence and all of a sudden players do things we thought they could never do.

I played in the midfield for my whole career, and I do appreciate how hard it is to find your man all the time, but it is not hard to be accountable. Even if its not your man and you see one loose you go man up when you don't have the ball.

These guys are professional footballers who are played a lot of money each year. Accountability is something that is taught from a young age and just doesnt seem to be present in our team at the moment.

The tackling and pressure between the forward line and our oppositions 50 is non existant, there are way too many cheap goals every game, way too many missed tackles and players running free.

I would love to know what the coaching staff is doing about this atm
Your'e right about one thing.
Too many missed tackles. When do get hold of someone they break and twist out of the tackle to easily

way too many soft runs from oposition players. It is really frustratin when we work so hard to get the ball from end of the ground to the other and then the opposition just run through us.

Tackling is something that can be tought, I thought we shared princess park with the storm and had some affiliation with them?

we do share it with them but we have a yin and yang set up.

they show us how it is done
and
we show them how it shouldn't be done

I tend to think our problem is more with our forward structure. In the games I have seen our forward line looks barren when we are coming in. Just no targets much of the time. Also feel that the back line is not so bad and that if guys like Thornton ans Scotland can find consistent discipline that we will be ok down there.

Re the game plan I think we would be better suited leaving more forwards at home and getting the ball in there a bit quicker and without so much hesitation.

Spot on, too much chipping around the flanks, giving teams time to flood back, we need some more run off half back and quick movement through the corridor.....ideally get the pill in there to Stevens, Gibbsy or Judd who will make good decisions and use the ball well.
