Welcome everyone to our sudden death, judgement day for 2012.

The entire 2012 season and how it is viewed and critiqued will be decided by the fate of this one game this evening in September.

I agree, win and we delivered on some of the potential of the squad, ushering in a new era at Crowland. Lose and we failed to capitalise on our good draw and minor-round promise, and demonstrated we still haven't learnt to win finals.

We need to have a massive crack, and win. No one expects us to beat Hawthorn, but we must defeat Fremantle.

I'm scared, particularly as I live in the Heart of the Purple Haze.

An unforced late change would give me a shred of confidence that our coaching staff will do something proactive for this game. I don't want to see another choke,

What worries me the most is that losing this one will send ripples throughout our club.

We will be questioned again for the entire 2013 season and beyond till we have a descent finals win and series.

I remember we had that aura in 1999 that we still could achieve anything despite our poor form.

In 97 and 98 we had big game players, like Jarman and McLeod to name a few. We dont have a proven single big game player in our squad and it is time someone stood up.

The fallout from this game will be massive:

Our soft draw
The need to recruit key defensive players
Should we have known and gone after Ross Lyon
The same under performers in big finals games
The mental fragility of our club as a whole - the legacy of Neil Craig
The massive shadow that will be cast over our 2013 season which will be with us till September 2013 if we make it again
Sando still an unproven coach and questioning his ability in big games
The destabilizing effect of the Kurt Tippett saga on our club in 2012 of him staying or going
The need to peak so early and for so long ie the preseason flag
The game plan and execution in finals game

Jenkins I feel may be a late inclusion. A bit of cloak and daggers.

Massive day for the club. Lose here and you have to ask whether there are some permanent scars that the current players are unable to get past.

Agree Carl and i know we have discussed this previously.

My feel is that failure tonight will send a clear message to sando that there are a number of players who are minor round specialistd but who will never take us to where we want to be....major round specialists. Some careers on the line tonight.

Sando's own comments about not being well prepared in big games sent a few shivers through me. Is that really appropriate to harp on? Probably shouldve stepped aside for a while and let Milburn take over for the week.

If 7 players had stomach bugs last week (read "the nervous shits") theyd be packing it right now.
Im confident we will win but we gotta take our chances.
I tried to think of a big game player too eastcoastcrow:rolleyes: - 3 weeks ago we would've all had a top three probably...bit hard now.

is it really as doom and gloom as it appears?

also ECC, i'm guessing you have a large bet riding on tonight being that your suddenly active again

The key, surprisingly enough, is Pavlich. Keep him to 1-3 goals and we win. Rutten stood up last week, he needs to do it again, even if at the very least he forces Pav beyond the F50 to find touches. He's done the job before, I'm backing him in again.

Would like to see Jenkins brought in as well. Sandi and Clark will be a massive ask and I think an extra big man would really help counteract their 3rd man up in our forward line.

Yeah I think there is some real doom and gloom hanging over some players. If we go back to 05 our finals performances have been a train wreck. We have a number of players who have overseen that who are currently involved in what could be the final exclamation point in this series of train wreck.

There are a number of young players who will be banging down the door next year and there must be a point where we cut our losses and identify some more expericed players who have proven time and again that we simply will not advance in finals while they are in the side.

Of course a win tonight, and strong performance against hawthorn may change that.

It's a good thing we're facing a similar game style to last week. I don't think we can play with any less polish and we'll definitely be keeping the ball moving at all costs. Our forwards must surely deliver more than last week and the delivery to them can only be better. Feeling nervous but very positive about tonight's outcome.
