Commonwealth Games Bidding Portfolio

The Commonwealth Games are more relevant today than it has been in years because it is the friendly games. The Commonwealth Games highlight equality, humanity, destiny and focus on issues surrounding areas of the Commonwealth. More Commonwealth Nations need a bigger piece of the puzzle and need to be given the opportunity to host the Games. In this portfolio I will outline plans for 'New' and 'Old' cities to host the Commonwealth Games for 2026. Once it is completed, we will revisit the Commonwealth Winter Games.

Toronto Commonwealth Games


Toronto have never hosted the games so it would be favored in voting by the CGF, The majority of venues were the core of the successful Pam Am Games in 2015. The Commonwealth Games have not been in Canada since 1994 when Victoria welcomed the Commonwealth.

Cape Town Commonwealth Games


South Africans want to see a Commonwealth Games come their way. On the back of the CGF Backflip with awarding Durban the rights for 2022, Cape Town has come to the party and will bid for the 2026 Games.

Singapore Commonwealth Games


Singapore is another world class city yet to host a Commonwealth Games and in real life are actually leading the pack for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The fact that Singapore have not hosted a games before means that the CGF would love to bring a games to Singapore. Singapore have recently hosted the South East Asian Games in 2015 with majority of CWG venues hosting events in the SEA Games of 2015. Singapore also hosted the inguinal Olympic Youth Games in 2010.

Perth Commonwealth Games


Perth last hosted the Commonwealth Games in 1962. Perth has just opened its world class Perth Stadium and is eager to show it off to the Commonwealth. Perth is the leading candidate for Australia's next Commonwealth Games City and would be in the box seat to host an excellent games if chosen as hosts.

Auckland-Christchurch-Wellington Commonwealth Games

A Joint Bid from the New Zealand cities of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch would come together for the New Zealand bid for the XXIII Commonwealth Games. Auckland was the last city to host the games back in 1990. Wellington bidded in 2006 but withdrew to let Melbourne host the games which Christchurch last hosted the games in 1974. On the back of recent natural disasters, the games would be great for Christchurch and New Zealand to host in general. Each host city has its fair share of Events with the Ceremonies being held at the grand, Eden Park, Athletics being held at Westpac Stadium, Wellington and new venues being built in Christchurch after the Earthquake of 2011.

Give it a go. As much as we've all gone on about plagiarism today there is merit to actually trying to draw existing things because you'll learn how to use the tools... which you can then use to put your own twist on things.
