I feel ashamed of the last time we finished bottom 4 on the ladder. But when I watched the 08 Grand Final I thought this is an absolute joke. I was just like let them have their celebrations lol. Like we were the best but just didn't get the trophy.

It's like when my friend Marco Pierre White gave back his 3 michelin stars. The accolade simply didn't mean anything to him anymore once he'd reached that level above all others.

Genuinely interested...how were you the best?

Comfortably beaten in the GF. In addition, Hawks were comfortably better during the entire month of September.

Agree that Hawthorn was better in September overall but Geelong's home and away series rightfully entitled them to favouritism.

Oh no, 186 was the margin and not even the score!

Score was Geelong 233 points to Melbourne 47. I remember that day. I was walking home from the shopping centre and we walked past a pizza shop that had the game on. We wanted to see what the score was and I thought there was something wrong with the telecast or that I saw wrong. Did a double check and the score was like 222 or 220 points at the time I checked. One of the most shocking results I have seen

There have been bigger margins in a quarter, but the first quarter of the Port Tigers EF in 2014 left me shell shocked. I remember watching it thinking the Tigers were just completely helpless, couldn't get near it, Port just doing as they pleased and beating up on Richmond.
Tigers had spent all their tickets just getting to the finals.

That one shocked me as well, I was so happy that the boys won 9 straight just to make the finals.. then Port just kicked like 7 in a row in the first quarter and I just turned off the TV. Those three elimination final losses were not a nice time..

I still have no idea how we came back from 54 points against the Cats in 06. I still scratch my head at that and it was over 10 years ago.

There are a few theories going around about why a lot of the Eagles had almost superhuman endurance around that time.

Goodness knows what formula I used to calculate it, but I ended up deciding that Footscray would win by 57 points. Went to the game with my parents, to see Footscray win by 57 points. I thought I was a genius! (If only I could remember what the formula was...)

I am sure it had variables such as how many players would be future tennis coaches, AFL club coaches, players that would have sons be drafted to club lists and how many K's in the names of both clubs, how many interchanges would be made by both teams and divided by age of six youngest players on each team.
