This one’s a positive for Richmond. Although Gold Coast are 18th, the Richmond vs Gold Coast halftime score of 103-19 this year shocked me.
Up until that point, Gold Coast were pretty competitive at home and didn’t allow big scores with the exception of the Brisbane game in Round 6. Even away, the only teams that really obliterated them were GWS and Adelaide. Hence, I expected it to be a sub-100 scoreline for both teams in a low-scoring slog considering it was raining too.
Suddenly, Richmond kicked 56 points in the first quarter and continued on with the romping after the break, giving us a score of 89 points 13 minutes into the second quarter. Crazy stuff considering that Richmond isn’t really a side that obliterates other teams like that very often
