We've all had ideas over the years, what we think would make a good or how to make a game better, for the most part none of us have ever ventured into the area with any real attempt but doesn't stop us from dreaming. So let us share the ideas that our rattling in our heads whether that be building off each other ideas or simply your own.

I always had an idea in my head.

What if Mario games had more of a complex story line and I felt compelled to finished the game and the bosses have actual personalities and I felt that I actually want to beat them whilst fighting them.

I have an idea.

But I'm going to actually try and somehow get it made. I know a few guys who are making their own game right now and told them the idea, they LOVE it and think it'll genuinely sell.

I also messaged Chris Charla on GAF who said he'd be happy to sign an NDA if I wanted him to hear my idea. So I downloaded UE4 to see if I could tinker and it's pretty hard so I"m going to try and put together a design document to show Chris and see if maybe he likes it enough to hopefully help me get it together.

Zzzz

Things that s**t me thread

I guess I should write some of my ideas down wish I could remember everything, not to float my own boat but personally I think they were gold mine ideas :D

Recently Mushihimesama was released on steam which is a shmup developed by Cave, it got me into a discussion with a friend how the best shmups aren't space based. I came up with he following on the spot so it lacks boss designs and any real detail but eh enough to get an idea.

Stage 1: would be a moon based level where you are flying directly cross the axis of the moon, either side you can see the sun and the earth, this level you would be killing alien engineers that are creating a base/settlement on the moon.

Stage 2: Would be a semi terraformed Mars thats now been deserted and over ran by aliens, collapsing buildings invested with alien spawn.

Stage 3: Would be like a chase mission as your forcing the aliens back, dodging through the asteroid belt, level is more about keeping up and surviving rather than destroying but you still score points for blowing up asteroid and alien ships ofc.

Stage 4: Would be the second half of chapter 3 but you enter a massive teleporter, whole level is you traveling through a time warp as everything around you is distorted and slowly getting pixelised.

Stage 5: Is you arriving at one of the aliens home worlds, you can see why they've moved on, mining resources has collapsed section of the planets forming massive galleys, the surface is a desert with sand dunes but the bottom of the galley is a rich rainforest, land bridges cross the galley at varies depths which causes to you dodge and swap between the desert surface and the forest below.

Stage 6 : Arriving at their drifting space colony, think titanic meets death star. The spieces is on it's last legs with zero resources left hence the drifting, it's party time for destruction.

Good thread, I'm always thinking up game ideas or gameplay mechanics I'd like to see implemented, I will write a few down when I remember them.

At the moment though I'm playing through Fallout 4, and while playing it's got me thinking of what it would be like to have a game similar to this but set in a modern day war zone.

I know we have heaps of FPS war shooters out there, but I'm not sure there is an open-world RPG/FPS (maybe The Resistance?) set either in the Middle East, Russia or Korea (or even have it where the US is the one under attack) where you play as a US soldier hunting terrorists, doing side-quests and specialising as a certain class. You could evolve a pretty good story around that, doing a bit of a 'Homeland' where you're captured at one point and could potentially be 'turned'.

I think while War has been done to death in some ways, I don't think we've had a really good story (maybe only Spec Ops: The Line), open exploration, good gameplay and RPG elements all rolled in to one.
I think it's a genre that could really appeal as you could have a strong political play to drive the story, plenty of questions on morality, what war means, the family angle etc.

If there is a game like this out there, let me know.

An RPG like Skyrim set in the Star Wars universe with better combat.

Yeah a FIFA type AFL game, that would be something.

I've always wanted a massive open world, go wherever you want LOTR game where you choose to play as any of the characters from the films and each one has their own story.
