Great post SA, remember Souva got donuts on his debut when he wasnt ready, went back to the VFL got a frosty miller and Mk11 souva was much better, even Choms game yesterday he showed more with a bit od VFL confidence but still needs a block of games.

We played a genuine KPD in McKay (201cm) and then too many other tall defenders - Corr (195cm) , Dawson (196cm) Bonar (188cm), McDonald (189cm) , Young (189cm) and Perez (188cm).

Gold Coast's small forwards and shorter mids going forward were too zippy front and square and on turnover. It also doesn't help having such a tall defence when we're so poor at defending our own turnovers up the ground.

That inability to defend our own turnovers has been about having too many 1st-3rd year players who aren't fit enough as Patch said. You can see that at the ground. LDU is not one of them now - he gets up and back now, applies lots of pressure but we shouldn't forget he was one of those players in his first few years.

So I'm not as disenchanted by yesterday's performance. I saw some tired 1st-3rd year kids at the end of a season. I thought we nearly won contests for most of the day but not quite. Like losing a set in tennis 6-1 but taking the other guy to deuce in all of those games. It looked worse than it was in some ways. But then we got scored on heavily - we couldn't get an outnumber, we were being outnumbered as those kids did look fatigued and the tall defence was exposed. I thought they were trying. There are a couple from yesterday who aren't up to it too.

What I will say is that I was thrilled the loyal fans received the recognition from the players yesterday. Much deserved. I have previously shared how gutted I felt when most of the players ignored the ardent QLD fans who had rocked up weekly during the Covid shyteshow, as the walked off after the final round at Metricon.

Obviously, we learnt later than internally things had gone completely pear-shaped so I kind off get it. A simple wave would have meant the world

Thrilled the ardent faithful got the acknowledgment from the players that is so richly deserved.

i can't stand Kane's opinions of us which will never change but its more Barrett's response seeing he was apparently gifted with the Clarkson scoop on the proviso he speaks better of us. I might be cynical but I don't think he will change. If Kane brings it up, I want him to stick up for us and say some of the things eveyone has said whilst quoting my post.

He always misses the real story because he doesn't understand how much this club means to us. I am sorry to hear Peanut Jr didn't get a selfie but maybe a trip to training in 2023 for many selfies might make up for it

You are probably right. She mentioned in an interview that she knew about Kane calling her uninspiring was gold.

Did anyone notice the cheersquad get a little bit jealous? Whenever that bay would start up a song, they'd start up a "Let's go Kangas, let's go" haha

In defence of Laz and it’s a shallow defence, he’s played 24 games. Both Scott and Taylor were being touted by many as no good but at seasons end and 50 odd games under their belts, look like they may be more than useful now. He’s got next season, but needs to make some inroads, putting on some kgs certainly wouldn’t hurt. Mahoney is a bust though for sure.
