Don't know how I would feel about Gardy coming to Windy Hill.

If the club don't think Cartledge has it and Laycock is playing hardball with his contract, god knows why because he hasn't done much to give him any bargaining power, then we could lose 2 rucks.

That would leave Hille, Ryder and McKinnon. The club have big wraps on McKinnon and by picking up Gardiner that could give a few vital years of development to those two.

I reckon there is a possibility that Cartledge might stay as a backup ruck, obviously this depends on Laycock signing on though.

I reckon Sheeds will wait till Gardy's played up a couple of years at Blues, before trading a third round pick in a few years.

Polak is still a bit green as a CHB so I wouldn't want to take him. Seems a bit too chilled and laidback on the field.

Gardiner - No. Not sure why sheeds is sniffing around Perth for palyers we don't need or want.

this is the best plan that kevin has unveiled in years! in saying that the dons are looking at trying to pick up gardiner with a late national draft pick this will bluff carlton into picking up Luenberger with pick number one for two reasons 1. they desperatley need a ruckman
2. they wont be able to pick up gardiner with their number one pick in the preseason draft.

by bluffing carlton to take luenberger at number one this effectively gifts bryce gibbs to essendon!

Why is Sheedy involved? We have a recruiting department and surely it is their job to seek out young players. Sheedy is senior coach in the last year of his contract. He should not have a heavy involvement in this years draft picks IMO. Carlton wont fall for the silly Gardiner crap. They will select Gibbs pick 1- its as certain as taxes, feral collingwood supporters fighting EACH other, hair on Ron Jeremys back and Carlton continuing to implode.

Doubt very much that will happen.
As stated in an earlier reply, there may also be spider and Keating available, so Carlton will have options.
Luenberger is an extremely talented ruckman, and really looks very impressive from what i have seen of him, but he wont solve Carltons Immediate ruck issues.
I would say that Carlton will probably pick Gibbs.
I'm not that disapointed now after seeing some of Gumbleton in the u18 championships.He looks a gun to me

um what would stop carlton offering a better pick then ours, there one in front?????????????? and i would thin that carlton midfield kpp would be high on their priorities rather then another ruckman who is going to take 6 years to develop??? midfielders give more service and earlier too, to a club over a number of years then say a ruckman who may have an impact for 3-4 years.

e.g how long did matty primus, steven king, gardiner, jeff white, sandilands and cox take to have an impact on the afl field? then ask how many seasons they have made an impact. Jeff white is the only player who has consistently played well for a few years and even he had injury problems.

Ruckman are a huge risk with todays game, they certainly help win premierships but im not sure carlton could afford that expense over a gumbleton, hansen or gibbs.

Not really a fair comparison
Primus,King,Gardiner have all had a lot of injuries.
Primus played a massive role in Port being a top 4 team for years on end.
Cox has been a very good player for 3 years on end now and Sandilands for 2 in a row, but he is also quite young for a ruckman and just starting out.

I doubt Carlton would take Luenberger unless they traded for another top 6 pick, but the kid is a massive talent.
