Well it's taken 12 months but Garry Ayres, the WORST coach in the AFL has struck again.

Now it is Shaun Rehn, a champion ruckman who has given everything for his club.

Despite Rehn not directly saying it was because of Ayres, it wouldn't take a genious to read between the lines.

It happened at Geelong as well. Bairstow, Couch, Hinkley, S.Hocking and Gary Ablett.

Ablett was the worst, Ayres played him in the reserves (against Richmond of all teams), he did his knee and never played again. How often would you see Denis Pagan play Carey in the reserves or Sheedy play Hird in the reserves - it would never happen.

I'm sure next it will be Jarman or Bickley.

The sooner Adelaide get rid of Ayres, the better they will be.

Gary Ayres has two major problems.

1.) He is paranoid about age. He seems to think that anyone over the age of 28 can't play senior football.

2.)He seems to have a real problem getting his players to ENJOY their football.

He'd probably make a very good youth coach in the under 18's, but he seems to have his players playing in spite of him, rather than FOR him. That is a bad sign.

You've got to get the players playing for you, with real spirit. He seems to have great difficulty keeping everyone together. He won't last long at Adelaide and when he goes, he will not get another senior job.

This has been a very depressing couple of weeks.

I had my doubts about Ayres when we picked him up. It seemed to me that at Geelong he had turned a grand final side into a side that couldn't make the 8.

I did however give him the benefit of the doubt this season, but he has turned out to be a dud.

He has made stupid moves that havn't come off. Is slow to react to events on the field. Has no desernable game plan & has systematicly alienatated good players.

I desperately wanted him to do well, the last thing we need to be constantly changing coaches, but he's a dud.

Now we have lost Rehn & a couple of others. I find it hard to beleive that Ayres has not been responsible.

He should watch his back. I recon that our next senior coach has just been appointed as an assistant. Niel Craig

I agree Drakey. Why would Darrell Hart qhit a plumb job as far as assistant coaches go without anything lined up to go to?

The only departure from the club that I can't see related to Ayres is Bob Hammond. He has always said he would quit after 10 years. And he has always been a man of his word.

I give Gary one more year.
