When you read stuff like this, it's hard not to want him to coach us one day.

I don't disagree with a single thing in that article. Straight-forward, simple yet perfectly reasonable suggestions re. Dunn, Davey and Bruce.

You get the sense he was as hurt as any one of us by last week's performance, it's really difficult not to infer from that article that he wants a crack at the coaching gig one day.

Very impressive article. He says exactly what i feel and his points to improve the players (without being overly negative) are very good ideas i think. Playing bruce as a lead-up forward would be a terrific idea IMO due to him making players ala Heath Shaw accountable and he also has the ability to kick goals (remember the 7 he kicked against carltn a few years ago).

Fantastic article! I'd love Gazza to coach the Dees

I heard a rumour that Leigh Matthews might be lined up to coach the Dees mid season if things don't improve....

The thing is i think the majority of people on this forum would be able to write a similar article, and i wouldnt be asking anyone here to coach. He doesnt really detail a game plan. I just hope Bailey can read, hope being a big word.

I like the ideas, but on the individual player suggestions:

1. Davey never played in the backline last year, and has rarely played in the backline ever. He played in the middle but swept backwards and used the ball well primarily from half back.

2. Lynden Dunn must play back today with only Warnock and Frawley as the key defenders. I want him to get an extended run as a tagger or half forward but today is not the day.

3. I really believe Bruce plays his best footy off half back these days. We need his experience (especially with no Rivers today) along with Joel Mac, to help out the young guys like Bennell and Struass. I'd love to throw him forward today but I think that responsibility to keep defenders honest has to go to Green, Petterd and Bate along with Newton and the resting mids. If we ever get 6 forwards up and firing (Jurrah, Sylvia, Wona, Jetta injured, Watts recovering, Miller and Maric not doing enough) it will be alot easier to judge.

Yeah, none of what he says is particularly earth-shattering, but I do like the Bruce on Shaw suggestion.

I also find it difficult to fathom this consensus that Lyon would make a fantastic coach.

Where does this viewpoint come from?
