Unfortunately these days the "kiddy gloves" you mention go hand in hand with it, so Lyon uses that to avoid accountability for his actions.

That's one assumption you could make. Depression can be episodic, and triggered by life episodes, so Garry's story at least checks out. There doesn't seem to be any particular reason to doubt it.

So Lyon's depression went from manageable to crippling overnight, right at the time he was about to be outed? Spare me.
.

You do realize maybe there where lot of other issues going on not just his relationship with nicky, Maybe with that coming out was the last straw to sort other issues out. And u say he was about to be outed for what exactly having sex with a single adult female. The fact there still together tells you they don't really care what other people think.

How'd the show go this morning Garry?

Very well thanks i just wish people would worry about there on pathetic lives instead of mine, the way some people talk is like i killed someone what happen in Melb the other week that's a tragedy people need to get some perspective on things. As for poor Billy i keep hearing i hope they don't do a story on him and how faithful he was over his marriage.

That might make sense were the relationship not off-limits in his 'tell all' interview this week.

Once again, how convenient that as soon as Garry faces some criticism that the spotlight is too much for him. Did you know that gullible isn't in the dictionary?

Also, she was his best mate's ex-wife, it's quite clearly more than "a single adult female."

Wow. Pretty pisspoor, gratuitous reference to something that has nothing to do with Garry Lyon.

What a quality human being you are. :$

Grow up peanut. No one buys your deflections.

But he is still facing that criticism the fact is its between Lyon and brownless family why should other people care what has happened. yes exactly she was a ex wife so she was single to see who ever she wanted too.

Piss poor i was just making what tragedy really is and people need to get a life. What a quality human being you are mental illness and depression is a very serious matter and you saying he is faking it.

Not really, it's common for people to be secretive about certain aspects of their illness, including the trigger for it. Just because he has depression doesn't mean he has to reveal everything you know.

No one is saying he is faking it.

A lot are saying he is hiding behind it.

i disagree a number of people have doubts over his illness, him hiding behind also doesn't make sense cause what is he actually hiding behind people have come out and said they don't agree with it but when its all said and done its no ones business.

And the fact that it become public and then was announced that Lyon will be taking time out, A lot of people where going to be cynical of it so that was going to make it worse for him.

so i don't agree with people saying he is hiding behind cause its probably made the situation worse for him.

Here it is in a nut shell.

Lyon may have had depression before being busted jamming his mates ex Mrs. His depression was then elevated once he was outed and society frowned on him.

The End.

Nice quoting, Bombers. :thumbsu:

I never said he was faking it, I said he was using it as a shield to avoid people calling him on his shit. He's always been a gutless flog, sat on the panels that recommended Melbourne appoint Bailey and Neeld, then when it turned to shit, potted the club/board for the decisions they made. This is the same, it's just that there's more attention paid to this one because it means he had to quit 9 and MMM.

So now this is the trigger for it? Well if he was concerned about that, perhaps he never should've f***ed his best mate's ex-wife. Just because you can't handle the consequences of your actions doesn't mean you get a free pass for them.

Since he is still with Nicky i don't think he cares what people think of there relationship and people can still call him out on it, Because that's the world we live in today people seem to care what others do. so what he sat on the panel that got the coaches wrong who cares it happens he said plenty of times at the time he thought Neeld was the right choice obviously he was wrong.

Well clearly he does care because he wouldn't let Sheahan discuss the subject this week, and he played the mental health card as soon as the story broke.

He admitted he was wrong? When was this? He used to always dodge or reject the question. :$

Lyon has every right not to go into the full details of his relationship with Nicky as it is no ones business why should he air it for all to hear, Well if he cared of what people would think his relationship with Nicky be over but it isn't.

He said plenty of times on classified at time he thought Neeld as coach and bringing Neil craig as his assistant was the right way to go about it but got it wrong. I don't see how that has anything to do with it, there is no secret formula on selecting a coach he got it wrong.

He may or may not have been concerned about it, the point is it's a consequence of his behavior.

Just because you can't handle the consequences of your actions doesn't mean you get a free pass for them.

He hasn't gotten a free pass on anything. He was off work for a year, and the story wasn't covered up. Having depression isn't a jail free card. You still have to face consequences lol

The old school footy club code of ethics from Gary's era was underpinned by narcissism and consequently on a crash course from the outset for all those who subscribed.
It's been a common theme in the inner sanctum of elitist clubs throughout time. Tony Soprano's mental health challenges surrounding conflicting morals was a accurate depiction of the same.
The timing is the giveaway for me. Sleeping with his best buddy's ex in front of the nation was always going to rob him of inner peace.
He suffered from event triggered depression, brought on by his own narcissism, as have many others.

Exactly I would be depressed if i was outed for banging my best mates missus in front of the whole country as well.

I had a long term girlfriend who suffered from depression and I don't mean depression that is triggered by something bad happening to you or when you feel guilty for doing something really shit to someone you care about and they are two different things all together. One you can get over the other you live with.
