Lots wrote him off at the end of last year but he's been really good this year.

Currently playing the best footy of his career since 2014 prior to when Brent Macaffer tackled him which resulted in a very nasty shoulder injury to Ablett.

Many people who love footy and love watching the champions play were cursing Macaffer as it was widely thought that Ablett would never recover from his injury given the severity.

However fast forward to 2019 and he has made a complete recovery as he no longer has to wear shoulder tape and can freely move his arms above his head, best example being on Easter Monday when he took that hangar very reminiscent of what Senior used to on a weekly basis.

After 7 rounds he'd be right up the top in the Brownlow voting and he is every chance to win what would be a well deserved 3rd Brownlow Medal for one of the greatest players to ever play our game.

He's playing great football but I don't think he's made a full recovery. That shoulder is still cactus and you can see it every single contested marking contest he's forced into. He actively avoids them.

He will win if he stays uninjured or doesn't karate kick Tobey greene

Probably a bigger chance of spoiling Kelly or Dangerfield's chances, with an eyebrow raising (but never seriously threatening) 18 votes or so. Not that I'd be complaining if his form continues and his play throughout the season earns him that many.

Continued chance of a 3-4 week injury as well as being managed if Geelong's form continues and they get 2-3 games clear in the top two over the next couple of months.

His shoulder never recovered. He used to be a great contested mark but he doesn't take any now. Doesn't even go for them.

He might have 6-8 votes in the brownlow.

He doesn't wear shoulder tape anymore which is an indicator that the shoulder is now recovered.

That and the fact he's taking overhead marks again, Exhibit A being Easter Monday..

He won't get close. He's playing some fantastic footy, but he will never be the player he used to be. Tim Kelly could go close, though.

Very much doubt if any Geelong player will win the Brownlow as possibly they will all poll votes against each other - often happens with teams @ the top of the ladder. In saying that however there's still a long way to go so anything can happen before seasons end!

People said that in 2016 Dangerfield wouldn't win it because Selwood would take too many votes off him.

Ablett has really shone this year and has been in Geelong's top handful of players, he also knows how to rack up the votes.

Having said that Tim Kelly is paying $13 to win and $4 to place, crazy odds which should be shorter given he's been Geelong's best player this year.

It certainly didn't happen in 07 or 09.

I've never ever understand that train of thought and never will. If you're in the best 3 players on the ground you generally get votes irrespective of who's around you.

Well he can apparently do no wrong in the eyes of the umpires and AFL judiciary. The players from other teams have got to stop running into his elbow. 🙄
