And whats your point? If he was, he was there to watch his brother play and listen to the huddle. Everyone does it.

Christ some people are over the top with this stuff

Was probably just telling his brother to get a bloody kick.

Three games in, three games at full forward, zero goals for Nathan.

If he can't beat VFL full backs, heaven help him when he comes up against the likes of Scarlett, Glass, Presti and Lake next season.

I personally dont think its a particularly good look if he is hanging around their huddles when they have have a huge contract for him on the table - which he says he is yet to decide on. He still plays for Geelong, at least for another 5 months. There are ways he can support his bro without taking in the Gold Coast coaching addresses. If nothing else, surely he realizes its just going to increase speculation..

Why SHOULDNT he stand around listening to the coaches address to the players if he his thinking of joining that 'club' ?

Not many other players would get that kind of oppurtunity.

And good on him for being interested in what his brother is doing.

He's still playing for US on monday.

Not worried about this and I'm not renowned for optimism. Very sure if Nathan wasn't playing, Gary would have been in Geelong or Torquay. As you say SPECULATION only.

Both Jr and Sr there to watch Nathan. I don't see any problem with that.
As far the link to him playing , somewhere in the back of his mind he probably was taking on board the quality of the kids , how many of them that will be capable of playing with the big boys. Its not as if they are blitzing , they are showing it will take them a while.
Also watching Nathan & GC perform , its probably a handy reminder for GA how ordinary one can look within a young side. Nathan may well be off form I have no idea but any footballer knows what its like to be a forward in ordinary side , its tough. Ask Pods if he'd prefer to be playing at Richmond.
The as if you are the gun ,like GA would be, your the one that will cop all the treatment , all the game.

How are they traveling? One of the best things that could happen is Gaz sees how far off AFL pace they will be and realises he doesn't want to wait 5 years to get some decent protection and play finals again.

im not suggesting it means anything at all, merely suggesting that it's not a very good look to have a player playing for one club, yet visiting the coaching huddle of the team which is openly aiming to poach him. I'd have thought he'd be well sick of the speculation anyways, and would perhaps try to avoid the innuendo that such a move would create.

not all threads have to be works of art. its just a discussion board.

I read the articles too. If your dad was going to the footy to watch your younger brother who you dont get to see that much play, wouldnt you go too? And once there as if you wouldnt take the opportunity to check out the club you are considering playing for next year. If he didnt bother to stand at the huddle given the opportunity then i would assume he was staying but the fact he did doesnt mean anything at all as far as I can tell. The article also said that at half time he was playing some kick to kick with some kids. Doesnt strike me as someone who has gone to be involved with his future club. Sounds just like what any guy would do watching his brother playing footy.

Good on him for not worrying about what the media might say and getting out there to support his brother!

Nathan Ablett stuffed his career when he left Geelong, he will never have that 5 star midfield kicking it into the 50 every second and his potential won't be reached like it could have been at Geelong. Also, GC will get pumped by Richmond when they enter the AFL.

Gary jnr. is a smart bloke, don't read into little stuff like this. He knows very well what he would be getting himself into if he left Geelong. Hears hoping he has/makes the right choice not only for supporters, but more importantly his footy career.

If I had surreptitiously joined another team and was doing all I could to keep it under wraps, I'm not sure I would want to go stand in their huddle.
He was there to watch his brother play footy ffs!

This thread is silly, he played kick to kick with a few kids (including mine) big deal, he didnt even go into the rooms at half time or after the game, he waited for nath to come out and he left.

Lets get of his case, if he stays great if not bad luck. Move on

Of all the articles linking Ablett to the Gold Coast, this is by far the worse.

Linking Ablett's presence at his brother's first match in Victoria to a potential move to the Gold Coast, unbelievable. I agree with everything people have said about it being a heavily sensationalised article.

In all honesty, an embarrassing article for The Age newspaper.

Hadn't heard from Diamond and presumed he had got the sack. Worst sports journo going around (slightly worse then Rucci).
