Will be tough getting Votes off Dangerfield and Selwood.

Playing mainly forward might help him in this regard as kicking goals might be a point of difference whilst still getting midfield time to rack up a few extra touches.

But the big if is on his body and if it holds up I reckon he will.

Would have thought James Hird would have been inside the top 10
Looking back at the winning amount of votes - in Hird's days if you broke 20 votes you were pretty much home and hosed.

These days you need 30 to even be a chance. No surprise guys like Selwood are already in the top 10 and guys like Fyfe hve the highest votes per game average.

I didn't see Dempsey play but aside from him, Selwood is the equal or better player than everyone bar GAJ, Judd and Matthews on that list.
Haha bullshit. Not a single non geelong supporter would come close to agreeing with you.

Brent Harvey and Dane Swan are the only 2 you could argue. However Swan at his best was unstoppable and put up 40+ disposal games with goals.

Selwood doesn't even deserve to be mentioned alongside Sam Mitchell Simon Black Rob Harvey.

Judd was the best in the game for a few seasons. Selwood has arguably never been top 10 in his career for a single season

Selwoods had the better career than your Pendlebury, Fyfe, Martins etc. Even when you disregard all his accolades he's played at the top more consistently than any of those players. He's the ultimate professional. Second to only Gaz. And the only player in the league that draws comparisons to Leigh Matthews.

To describe it better the other "top 5 mids" are bunch of cheap chinese mig welders. Whilst all Richmond fans may argue Martin is 150A and Selwood is only 135A. Martin has a duty cycle of only 10% and the amount of seasons in his career he wasn't a top 5 player you could count on two hands.

Must say that's the first time of heard or read AFL players compared to mig welding equipment.

It's funny because of all the players on that top 10 list, the no.1 Gary Dempsey is easily the least recognisable name there.
Time (oldest player there with Lethal by far) and perhaps the fact that, with Harvey, the only two on the list not to win a flag. Still, gun:

He was a star and would have been high amongst the discussions for AFL TOTC

All he needs is 13 x 1 vote, or 1 x 3 + 10 x 1, or......Eminently do-able
