Gary Ablett Junior has continued to impress week after week and things got even better in the Hawthorn game.

His first quarter was absolutely fanastic and what about that goal in the second?!

How does everyone else rate his performances?

One word, outstanding.

For a kid who wasn't expected to mature until his mid 20's, he has performed unbelievably well.

Would be in the top 3 of our B&F right now, and deservedly so.

He is our best youngster, and by a long way.

Absolutely awe-inspiring stuff.

Gaz Jr.'s learning curve is well ahead of others who came into the team at the same time he did. His maturation process has been outstanding-- and yes, he will be a dominant AFL player in the future, and sooner than some may fathom.

He certainly had the full bag of tricks out on display today.

That goal in the second reminded me of a game against Collingwood where Ablett Snr did the same thing in the wet and I think it was Sandy Roberts "Gary Ablett, what more can you say"

:D :D

Gary Ablett continues to improve week after week and his goal at the start of the 2nd quarter was inspiring stuff, lifting the whole crowd. He would also be one of the best at intercepting opposition handballs in close, his reflexes and anticipation are amazing for someone so young and inexperienced.

Great hands, and a terrific footballer's mind, too.

Aside from that spectacular goal, one of my favourite moments of his from yesterday was when he took on two or three Hawthorn defenders in his own half of midfield, used two ball fakes to get around them-- can't believe the second guy fell for the same fake that the first one did-- cut into the middle and changed gears to lose the third guy before launching a perfect kick into the arms of a teammate, taking the mark on the lead.

It was one of those subtle moments, but executed so very well.

In the case of Gary Ablett Jr., it could be said that the apple didn't fall far from the tree, but the kid has some special talents based purely on his own merits.

Good picture of the young fella on the back of the Hun this morning too.

The footy world is starting to take notice.

Brilliant! Amazing what leaving him on the ground for 4 quarters has done for his confidence this year. Would be great to see a few of the other kids (Kelly, Bartel, Gardiner) given 4 quarters occasionally too. The goal at the start of the 2nd quarter was an absolute corker. It didn't even make it onto the Fox Footy Winners highlights package though!

I couldn't believe that either... what a joke!!

Nathan Ablett is more like his father. I hope he comes to Geelong because we need a champion key forward.

How exciting would that be if we had both Gary and Nathan Ablett running around in the Geelong colours within the next couple of years, especially if they turn out to be great players. :)

PREMIERSHIP players :D

There aren't nearly enough gaz worshiping threads around, this one was before it's time!

Gary Ablett in a few seasons will dominate the midfield the way his daddy dominated FF.

Nostradamus!!

Cat fans who are say 35 or older are blessed to have seen the Gary Ablett era in both incarnations. I'm one of those lucky people, absolutely amazing footballers.

Steady on there, I am 32, and have absolutley awsome memories, of Ablett.G, both Senior and Junior setting the G on fire. Was there for the Pies and Bombers flogging in 89, and for last weeks QF. GO CATS!

I think history will eventually show they were different play makers, but peers, both legends of the AFL.
