Didn't read it that way myself , it was more like "Midfield is the position for the big dogs , we have you and 12 puppies so have no doubt you will be playing in the middle".
I'd say he has a very good chance of a Judd medal in 3 or 4 years if he is still going strong. The bunch of talented kids will just be starting to kick in around 2013 , as we know a winning side gets more votes (usually)

I read it in the context of the conflict between Bomber and Ablett when he was moved to the forward line. To me it stuck out. McKenna was saying there will be no problem between player and coach. There certainly was this year over this issue.

I actually wondered about Ablett's move back to the midfield late in the season. I don't know if Bomber was pressured into it by his bosses as a sop to keep Ablett here. Bomber was never happy with his midfield play this year.
