These men also have a conflict of interest in being AFL media commentators which is something I find frustrating when I listen to them and how they inevitably make everything about their club. At least Lyon has integrity on that issue.
Gee I dunno mate, maybe because he gives a shit about his former club and wants to see it win a premiership sometime this century?Lyon's no idiot, he knows his limitations. Why would he abandon a cushy high paying media lifestyle to give himself an ulcer trying to resurrect the Demons?

Some people seem to think Gary has a recreational drug problem. I've no idea if its true, simply repeating the rumors I've heard.I heard Schwartz on SEN tonight say something to the effect of (paraphrasing here) "Garry needs to sort his own life out/get his house in order". Does anyone know what he was referring to?

Sheedy went for the interview but after the interview he came to the conclusion that he didnt want the job. He said so himself so even he thought that there was something not quite right for him to decline on wanting to coach MelbourneSheedy went for a interview and Lyon and co picked Bailey.
Why does it always have to be Gary Lyon? He's a media man. He has drawn the line and said "No", so where are the other Melbourne people willing to step up to the plate and help the club ?
Sheedy wanted the job. He just didn't want to interview for it. Fair enough imo, he shouldn't have to prove himself in front of a selection panel.Sheedy never wanted the job in the first place which is why he chose Neeld. Sheedy is past it and wont coach again after this year as he is getting on in years and not even he will make a differnece in the short term
Isn't Gary enstranged/split from his wife?I heard Schwartz on SEN tonight say something to the effect of (paraphrasing here) "Garry needs to sort his own life out/get his house in order". Does anyone know what he was referring to?
If I were a Demons fan, I'd have found it pretty hard to have to listen to Neil Mitchell banging on about his lifelong support of MFC and demanding a change at the top blah blah.
Nothing wrong with what he said in essence, as Melbourne are in a world of hurt at the moment. But to then show up to the MCG the day after Melbourne got belted like this must piss Demons fans off no end. I know it would if it were me.

Neil said the club never returned his calls about helping out.
touch hypocritical there, i guess thats why he didn't put his own hand up
I think he helps out from time to time, works at Swisse now IIRC.How come Neitz never gets mentioned? He was a better player than Lyon or Schwartz and a better captain too. Isn't he the club games record holder? And he's been out of the game for a shorter period.
Obviously not being in the media has a lot to do with it, but it seems possible that he would offer more than Garry every could.
