I cant remember what channel it was on because i only caught the end of the news, but i saw that Gary Ablett Junior was being interviewed and was suggesting that the time is right for Nathan to step up to the big time.

He has spoken to Nathan about this and they both feel that the time is right?

Did anyone else see this and what are yours thoughts?

I have a feeling it was the Channel 10 news but cannot be sure.

The interview was aired on ch9 news tuesday night. It was Andy Lovell and Gaz Jr at a function on tuesday arvo commenting on NA.

Ch10 mentioned last night that NA might play this week.

Haha - Come on, give me a break... i was too busy getting excited at the prospect of Nath being unleashed to take note of the channel.

Not sure if the time is right though... Time will tell. Hopefully they atleast name him in the squad.

Crucified? Really? Show me your scars!

The issue was that you posted that you had a source on the board who definitely said Nathan would play. Many thought it unlikely and now we all know he didn't. This week, due to more injuries, it seems more likely, but still....... unlikely........ :p

He wont play but i can't wait til next year to see the kid get a go. Out of all the kids in the AFL from any side he is the one i'm most excited about, Probably cos i admire his dad so much but yeh looking forward to see him strut his stuff.

I know you were not having a dig at me. Just some light humour.

A week is a very long time in football... This time last week everyone was saying we are no good, now a few people think we will win the last 3.

I was told his performance in the 2nds was much improved, but I still don't think he's ready yet. Then again there may not be many tall players left. To be fair to Andy Lovell, he said that Nathan "might" get a game in 2-3 weeks if his form warranted it. Unless he kicks a couple of bags I'd say it doesn't.

Dunno when the right time is, but its worth remembering it took his dad two years in the twos before he got his first game and it was another two years before he was an 'automatic'.

I don't think Gaz Snr spent any time in the 2s except for at the end of his career when his knee was stuffed. He was at the Hawks in 82, then buggered off to the bush in 83, was transferred to Geelong at the end of the 83 season and started at Geelong in 84, winning his one and only B&F in his first year. The thing is he was 22 when he started at Geelong.

With the current rate of injuries, the time might have to be right, whether it is or not.

Personlly, I don't think he should be played until next year, but maybe getting that fist game out of the way this year might not be such a bad idea.

Doubt he'll play though.

IF he play's I think Spencer can book his ticket back to WA now. He's been here two years, would be far more prepared than NA23 but it would indicate a lack of faith in ability of which NA has probably got his measure.Id say he'd be off as quick as milk left in the sun.

I don't think Ablett playing would spell the end for Spencer. Ablett seems to be more of a forward despite his games down back this year, but Spencer seems destined for a career at CHB. Also, considering that this is only his second year at the club, I wouldn't write him off yet, didn't Lonergan take 3 years to get a game? Mackie didn't get a game until his second year and he's a first rounder and a smaller player.

I just want to see him play so that dude will do the cool voiceover at the start off the game….you know the guy, always does the start to big games in those hushed serious tones…

Scenes of Snr
“He had all the skills, strength and speed, he was a Champion, he was their God (shot off the fans, maybe holding some kind of GOD banner!)”
“But even God couldn’t give them the ultimate accolade”
Shots of the losing Grand Finals
“But now it is the new dawn”
etc etc

I WILL BLOW A LOAD!

Oh and another thing...why do we HAVE to play him up forward. He had played down back in the Magoos. Maybe he can just be a "tall option"?

I think Spencer may be the preferred option down back as he's been in the system for longer, but if Ablett plays this weekend then there would be a good chance that he'll play down back.

With the strength of the winter Wind at KP on our traditional Wintery match days, both Mackie and Lonergan were in danger of being picked up and blown into the bay. The fact is they both were feather weights and both had to put some meat on the bones before playing with the big boys. Spencer on the other the other hand has size, if had some sort of mobility he would have been in the side , NOW. I just cant see him in a modern day backline, the man has the turning circle that reminds on of the Queen Mary. Love to be proved wrong but...
