The poor Wizard is so hard done by by the umpires though.

He was tackled (fairly) by Aliir and just dropped the ball and performed a swan dive hoping for a free kick. It should have been paid holding the ball but the umpires just called play on.

As I said from 200 meters away in the Eastern Grandstand at the time - Yellow card for simulation.

Should be fined for staging.

Going into the game I was thinking that a really poor performance here would really turn the screws on the succession plan. But once it got going... God that was good to watch, almost across the board. From the highlight reel performances from JHF, Butters, Rozee to promising signs from new/emerging players like Richards, Lord, Moraes, Cochrane to solid contributions from mature stalwarts in Aliir, Wines, Rioli, the energy that SPP brings, Esava looking more settled. Even in the second half when Hawthorn were coming back hard, there wasn't a collapse in individual performances or structure and cohesion that makes for frustrating viewing. It was more like a physics experiment: Hawthorn clearly carried more momentum in the second half, but Port had simply built up too much of a lead in the first. That chase-down effort from Wines in the fourth was elite.

First game I’ve attended in a while, I’m not sure what the recruiters saw in Essva, but he is completely clueless in 1v1 contests. Time to blood Walsh.
There's some double ups in these 2 clips and maybe we're not comparing apples with apples but the difference

is about 180 degrees in skill and temperament. This guy's gotta debut sooner rather than later surely.

One cost us a 2nd rounder the other a rookie pick that fell into our lap

My unpopular opinion:

Short players have so many disadvantages in the game, that I can excuse them drawing high frees. It’s the only time their size is an advantage.

You're bang on here.

That is an unpopular opinion.

Well thank you from the rest of Australia Port. What a performance.
Congratulations on beating both Hawthorn and the umpires who were deplorable all game - the total free kick count tells the story.
That first half was the best footy I’ve seen played this year. It was a smashing with Port’s scintillating ball movement and run complimented by crushing pressure.
Your team confuses me and I can only imagine how frustrated you Port fans must feel because if you dish that up every week, you are Top 2/Top 4 bound.
Not that confused - completely new game plan, had early injuries to key position stock, and Butters - who is no doubt the heart and soul of our midfield.

Team is very young and will be up and down. Weren’t and still aren’t able to defend as a whole group. Running out of legs too towards the end of the games.

Just good to know though that our best can be scary good. It will take half a season to get a bit more connection as a group though.

Nick Watson makes Cody Weightman look like a fair footballer.

You dont speak for me Ken.

I have a problem with Hawthorn.

I have a problem with their historic racism.

I have a problem with their inability to own up and make reparations.

I have a problem with their continued racism of their fans..

I support Willie fully to express his hurt in any forum that he chooses.
