I booked an AirBnB in Hahndorf - it's on the Melbourne side of Adelaide so 'closer' for driving.

Not sure if they run busses into AO from there, you can check. I believe they run them from Mt Barker so perhaps you could try there?
Some good suggestions here... thanks folks. I think I'll prob go down this route and potentially even drive to the ground and get wilson parking nearby...

At the Adelaide Oval, I always park to the east of the ground along the river. It's pay parking at first but if you keep going you'll eventually find some free parking.

There's some nice sporting ovals and parks to walk through to the ground so it's a pleasant and convenient spot.

You do realise that's 2H event parking and you're likely to get pinged.

ps. If you're going a Sunday - Go Plane Tree Drive/Botanic Drive - Free on Sundays.
ANd if it's a night game - Victoria Drive can be a good option.

But tbh, Adelaide's parking is quite well priced.
SOme carparks are a bitch to get out of (The one on Gawler Place, and the one next to the private hospital in North Adelaide - Not Calvary, the other one) so avoid them like the plague.

If I drive, I go to UPark Frome, but UPark Rundle also good.
If you're staying south/west I think UPark Topham is a good one. For a showdown I did the markets and it was good. Nice and quiet when leaving.

I don't mind paying $20 - $30 to get secure car parking...
Do you suggest pre-booking Wilson Parking nearby to the ground or are there enough secure car park options that don't require pre-booking?

$30 is expensive for Adelaide.
That's normally the day/lost ticket rate at many.

TBH, you'd probably pay that for Friday Night games.

But at UParks, night rates ($8 flat) start at about 6pm Thursday, $8 flat for Sunday, maybe double check UPark websites for Saturday rates because they might be a tad higher.

Also, dont go the closest to Adelaide Oval. Those that are in North Adelaide are an absolute nightmare.
And those in the CBD closest (ie, UPark Gawler, Wilson Adelaide Central etc.) Can be a disaster with road closures directing you in the wrong way post game, or lots being filtered into 1 exit and going at a crawl with not many leaving the carpark each light cycle.

I'd look at UParks tbh. If you're staying on the West Side of Town. UPark Topham.
Or if you're staying on the East Side of town. UPark Frome or Rundle would be ideal.

They're about 500m further from AO, but because of that, less people use it and it's easier to get out with less cars trying to exit. When we used to drive, we'd stick to UPark Rundle (Live East side of town) but now we take public transport because it's free.

PS. The one other carpark I'd avoid like the plague because they're a rip off is the Secure Park on Grenfell. Absolute rip off, particularly on weekdays and Saturdays. I think SUnday they have a reasonable flat rate. But still higher than alternatives.
