I hope that the body language stuff is being addressed internally.

We give our time and money and energy for this club and we have to take s**t from mates about how bad the club is performing. To see "veterans" joking around or making mistakes and then smiling about it... It makes you question why you care when they don't.

I'm not saying that they need to mope around all week but have the respect to not laugh about it when the fans are hurting.
Green light to give one our own an absolute serve from over the fence imo.

“What’s so funny JMAC you ****ing clown? Save the laughs for Nathan Jones and Richie Vandenberg at the shit captain’s reunion. ****ing s**tstain mother****er.”

Valid for 10 days to allow for home and away fixtures.

Three interesting team average stats so far this season :

Disposal Efficiency : 77.8 % ... Number 1 in the league
Contested Possessions : 120.8 ... Last in the league
Intercepts : 55.6 ... Last in the League

We are also third last in Contested Marks

Stats show we are just not winning enough ball, but when we do we are using it well overall. I guess this is not surprising with a lot of developing players.

Couldn't find a trade/recruitment thread, and forgive the intrusion...

Your first round pick and a second, for Sean Darcy and Freo's first.
North will be coming good next year after playing all your recent high end picks this year. Darcy in the middle is what you need.

Thread title is bloody fantastic btw. 😂
Sounds pretty good but even though I rate Sean, at the moment the ruck is the least of our worries, three or four other positions are in need of assistance.

Would you be brave enough to do something like LDU for Thilthorpe?
A lot of things come to mind after seeing this and the only thing I can say is: Does the word NO mean anything?

I just put on some random footy highlights before (check out the Back to the Brew/RooPub thread for why) and my dog got up and walked out of the room. Poor fella, being just 2 yrs old he has only known me muttering and cursing at the TV when the footy is on. When he hears the umpire's whistle he instantly leaves, generally giving me a dirty look on the way out.

Poor woof woof!

Do they still refer to it as a "Fixture" or within the walls of AFL House do they simply call it the "Fix"?

Yep.

The AFL FIXture this year did nothing to assist the 18th and 17th finishing sides having a chance to start the year with a win or momentum.

Eagles 3 out of 4 games away. Against finalists Port, Dogs and Swans. And a home game against a very strong GWS coming off a prelim loss by 1 point.

Half a chance this week v Richmond at home.

Switched off as as soon as the siren went so didn't see this.

Clarko should print out a still of this, slap it up on the whiteboard with the words "these clowns to be in the VFL indefinitely"

Can't handle watching us be so uncompetitive and have senior guys like this not giving a 💩.
You could see in his post match interview that Comben was also obviously seething. It's not acceptable for players to be laughing after a loss like that, I don't care who agrees or doesn't. I recall a game against Hawthorn in 2009 where we were behind late in the game but within striking distance and Hale missed a simple shot from about 30m and just laughed it off. I remember thinking if it were me coaching, he would've been dropped on that alone. I hope Clarkson did see it.

People who think they can fix the problem tend to take responsibility for it, so they are angry or disappointed in their own output or expect more from others.

Corr and McDonald and Stevens and Tucker etc are just barely hanging on, and they know it. They can't contribute. So this becomes either embarrassment or a response that allows them to diminish the problem, because that's easier than acknowledging that they are no longer AFL players worthy of being part of the fix.

These people kill organisations, because it spreads fast. Then you're absolutely ****ed.

Given the contracts they've been given I'm not sure they do know it, or, give a shit because it's already been signed off on. As unpopular as it is, McDonald and Corr are probably doing what they think is the right thing being the elders in terms of age and experience, it's just that it's not and it's hampering us but we don't have anything else at the moment. Stephens was a wasted pick up. He's never going to amount to much. I've said it all along, Sydney didn't seem all that concerned about him going elsewhere. Most players that go to Sydney tend to want to stay there, not leave.

It seems to me that despite being on the receiving end frequently, and nearly always paying dearly for it, we very rarely play on for advantage after a free kick, and to a lesser extent, have a quick play on from a mark, instead we inevitably go back behind the mark, survey the situation, kindly allowing oppo to get their defensive structure set up.

I made the comment about winning that game last year and missing out on Reid…I guess I’m just disappointed like many others. Mea Culpa

they’re more competitive then us and we lost to them last time we played them. if we keep playing like how we are atm we will lose to them again and become a even bigger complete laughingstock of the competition. we would get rolled by some vfl sides the way we play. embarrassing football club!
WCE should be more competitive, their senior players are quality and still performing (Gaff & Darling aside).

Our senior players have not turned up for years.

Seems to be the consensus on your board. Haven't seen Xeri ruck, just thought getting the big man in would help your young midfield. And it's not like there's a bunch of tier one players on the market at all and also wanting to come to North, so thought he'd be a good get.
Guess you can shop on the Gold Coast like all the other Vic clubs.

So in essence our priority picks have not helped us one iota.

Comical.
The priority picks delivered exactly what the AFL wanted. Little to no tangible improvement as the ones that had to be traded were less valuable due to the recipient having the upper hand yet the broader football following public saw it as North getting an undeserved hand-out that landed Sheez, George et-al.

You know ShireSwan I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we made a play for Sean I just think Tristan has stepped up to the plate and playing very well, the points you make are indeed valid points and as I said last year even though it won't be popular I will be very surprised if we make lots more changes to our list at the end of the year.

I know some posters because of how we are playing think there could be anywhere from maybe 8 to 12 changes , possibly less, but I'm pretty sure we won't be making a huge turnover of players again, yes we will take maybe 3 / 4 selections to the draft and maybe bring in a couple of players through the trade but as has been stated we have done our huge cleanout, now is the time to see who stands up and who is struggling, stability is the phase I believe we are now in.

Now whether that's 3 at the draft and maybe 3 players traded in or what ever we'll just have to see how our boys go between now and the end of the year, I think we'll be okay, the guys and girls behind the scenes know what they are doing, just have a little bit of faith.

Hang on...

Just cos we ****ed it, doesn't mean it was some grand AFL scheme. Tin foil hat nonsense is unhelpful.

We had picks and cap space and we got nothing that drives performance. The AFL can be blamed for plenty, but not that.

Rampant indifference.

These campaigners are the leaders FFS.
