Even though I feel like popping a few pills with the copious amount of alcohol I've consumed, I have to say one thing. Gary Jnr stood up today. If he wasn't our best then I don't know who was.

He tried his guts out, took the Hawks on and I reckon he just didn't get enough assistance when the game was there for the taking. Confirmed once and for all his superstar status.

Blue and white flows through his veins.

Selwood and Ling the only challengers.

Selwood and Ling the only challengers.

Yep. Our three best on ground - along with Scarlett.

I'm sad to say it but today I was sorely disappointed with two blokes in particular - Bartel and Corey.

They were off today in a big way. Tried their arses off but too many mistakes for mine. That just tells the tale.

I've always thought of him as a bit soft but today he stood up in the tackles and really kept Geelong in it for maybe longer than they should have been. I thought he deserved the Norm Smith. Fantastic game in a GF :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Great game by Gazza, couldn't tackle him
Crying after not winning the Norm Smith was a bit odd.. it's a team game Mr. Ablett, your father not teach you? Real men don't fake for frees (inc. Bartel) and don't cry.

See you cats next year in the Granny..

Don't worry about Gazza jnr,he will have a big smile on his face to-night after the lovely missus has finished sitting on it;)

Gary Ablett stood up against Collingwood this year, and was clearly our best player amongst a losing side today.
I've watched games this season when Geelong have flogged teams, yet the players were happy to ignore Ablett and pass the ball to Bartel or Kelly when they were free in the midfield.... Yet in the game today, and the game against Collingwood when we were struggling- they decide to look for Ablett.

Ablett, Corey, Scarlett, Milburn, Enright, Ling, Selwood - Have always stood up when it has counted... If i've missed names, then it means they have dominated when Geelong have dominated & gone missing when Geelong went missing.

Apart from the obvious disappointment at losing I would not be too disconsolate.
If the kicking was more accurate the game would have been anybodies.

I love Gary Ablett.

...Yes, he's an amazing player. Yes, he played his heart out today ...almost to the Norm Smith.

But....

I love him because never gave up.

I love that, in an almost child like way, he wears his heart on his sleeve, but still has the maturity to thank every Hawks player.

I Love that he was human enough to cry at the end of today's game.

I love him because he showed he was disappointed for not winning the BL.

I love him because, as a fan, I can see the emotion in him that I feel.
_____________

I grew up watching Gary Ablett senior as a kid and until today, it was never questioned that 'til the day that I die, he was, and will be, my sentimental favourite player.

After today; Dad, kindly make way for your son.

P.S. I haven't been drinking. But I am pretty emotional. I'm gonna stop now.

Well said mate. I too grew up idolising his old man. But Gary Jr has take it to a new level. Our dogs called Scarlett and cat, Harley. Think we're going to have to call our unborn child Gary.

Little Yabby was awesome today! Felt for the kid after the game, he was a shattered mess! Never gave up or lost belief at any stage! Well done to the hawks, but you guys are sure to bounce back!
