M. Crouch - as usual, one of the only players that busts his gut and tries. BOG for us.
Laird - we look a lot worse when he is not there. Needs to adjust his kicking target from the moon to somewhere on the field.
Doedee - elite defender in his first year. Outstanding defensive ability and great composure. Will be a star for us and must be retained.
Jacobs - thought he beat Nankervis tonight and continued his decent form
Jenkins - thought he played as well as he could have considering the delivery into our forward line
Greenwood - amazing one touch ability. Needs to work on his kicking which is amateur level a lot of the time, but contributed strongly.
Talia - our second best defender tonight behind Doedee, at least in the first half
Cheney - much better than Kelly in general. Great mark and great under pressure. Must keep in the side

Sloane - amazingly he finished with 31 touches, 10 clearances and 7 tackles. I thought he was pretty poor and largely invisible. Go figure.
Gibbs - disappointing. 25 really mediocre touches. Not showing much class at the moment.
Seedsman - didn't have a lot of impact on the game, and we badly needed more meters from him
Milera - fumbled a lot but also did some nice things. Better this year than last.
Douglas - 17 pretty meh touches. Once again not doing a whole lot for a senior player
Brown - largely invisible
Gallucci - looks elite when he touches it. Needs more midfield time but we have no small forwards so we need him there too

Lynch - awful. Really terrible. Everything he touched turned to shit. Looked underdone
Hartigan - gone to shit. Kicking under no pressure is horrific. No one to replace him
Walker - fast becoming a worse version of Tom Hawkins. Can't take a mark to save himself and timing is all off.
Kelly - playing him on a wing for large portions of the game is just bizarre. Shows we love players that can run kms above anything else. Isn't room for him in the side any more with Cheney performing better
Poholke - not AFL standard. Zero game awareness and no clear weapons in any position.
Fogarty - does one nice thing a game but doesn't look fit enough for AFL football right now. Will be really good for us as a marking key forward

Hampton - unbelievable. Literally couldn't believe my eyes at how bad he was. Horrible when he touched it (just twice for the entire match), and did absolutely nothing off the ball. Terrible pressure. Looked unfit and unwilling to compete. Destroyed by Dylan Grimes in a footrace over less than 50 meters. A performance so bad it warrants an immediate delisting

Sadly I agree regarding Milera.

He lost me tonight.

He's supposed to be our point of difference player, with pace, agility and an elite leg. Instead all we got was Mackay-like panicking and fumbling. Seeing him in the clear but choosing to handball it to an under pressure Talia made my heart sink. He'll only ever be another Mackay.

He managed to do that while not bringing the intent to work, chase, tackle, and put his body over the ball, which are Mackay's only strengths. Waste of time.

I've been right far more often than I've been wrong, despite wailing and gnashing to the contrary.

I can't remember a single time you've even come close to being right.

You saying something makes the opposite occur, which does make me happy that you don't mention any player you rate.

Hampton has zero heart. Looked like he didnt want to be out there.

Poholke often looked like he was moving in slow motion.

Without Betts our lack of speed becomes so glaring.
Without Betts...We took Cameron, he changed our whole team, every club has tried to recruit a Charlie type player ever since. The naysayers last year were bereft of a brain. Cameron, Lever and McGovern are why we made the GF. Because they are the point of difference to the Crowbots. Now we are just back to our old Neil Craig ways. Too slow, too conservative and FFS give me a defender with a bit of class (hello Brodie). Not our year people.

He squibbed all the time though, and frequently just let players run around, away, or through him with little attempt at prevention. Getting involved in 2 marking contests in the dying minutes of a 40 point loss is not intensity, it's the same downhill skiing he's always done.
I would say the one things that's improved markedly for him this year is his intensity. His skills are down a bit sure. Shown plenty of improvement though.

Lol what you are the worst judge in the history of football. Milera did some fantastic things and his intensity is good. Sit down old man.

His intensity was non-existent, just like his entire person for the second and large parts of the third quarter.

A few fumbled possessions and turnovers in the first quarter and then reappearing once the game is gone in the last is downhill skiing, and it's all he's ever done for us.

Agree with all of this

Meanwhile you can clearly see these things in Gallucci. IMO he will really be a player in two years time.

Good

Doedee you star. You Brownlow-medallist-superstar in the making.

Poholke - proved beyond doubt he is not AFL standard. So now we don't have to waste any more time picking him.

Hampton - has shown all his cards. His game was intentional sabotage. Should be fined for the worst game I've ever witnessed from a Crows player. So, we know now. We can cross him off the list and select Murphy.

very few other things.

Bad

most other things.

Ugly

Tex - Love him, but seriously WTF! Played injured? What other possible reason for being so insipid?

Richmond supporters. They are campaigners. **** of you campaigners. I hope you get smashed in the grand final, (as long as it's not Port you play) In fact I hope you go out in straight sets before the GF

In general, a pathetic capitulation. Did not fire a shot in anger. Infuriating, frustrating team of softies.

Another ****ing injury to one of our better-performing players. Get ****ed.

Meanwhile you can clearly see these things in Gallucci. IMO he will really be a player in two years time.

Gallucci looks ok. He'll make it, but at a Richard Douglas kinda level, he's not going to be a leading man.

Poholke is a lot like CEY, he just doesn't think fast enough to survive at AFL level.

There's one thing to play terribly (Hartigan) but quite another to flat out lie down, give up and not try...that was utterly disgusting.

He's got talent but he's a head case...must be dropped this week.

Not just dropped. He should be explicitly told he will never play a game of AFL football for the Crows or any team ever again

Outran, outmuscled, outplayed.

About 16 guys should be super disappointed with that last quarter. The rest wasn't awful, but the last quarter was gross.
For a game to be still on the line and give nothing is poor to embarrassing

Good:
Sloane, Laird, Talia, Rising Star, Crouch

Bad:
Umpires, crowd booing Tex

Ugly:
Our bottom 4-5. Basically played one player short tonight with Hampton putting in that effort. Poholke isnt ready for AFL. Hartigan is keeping Francis' spot warm for next season.

Let's be honest, no non-Victorian team is beating Richmond in the GF this year. They are good enough to be in the match, but then get a 5 goal advantage from the umpires.

Dusty alone is allowed to fend off using someone's face, try to fend off and get caught without htb called, encroach the protected area without consequence, and all he needs to do is look to the umps with pleading eyes to get the softest 50 of all time.

Add to that the constant throws allowed, the umps pulling back an advantage if a player stuffs up their kick after taking advantage, forwards being constantly nudged under the ball and getting their arms chopped.

And then the cherry on top is the bemusing frees that get picked out of nowhere in rucking contests, which all happen to be in Richmond's favour.

There is no hope unless you are Collingwood or Hawthorn.

Can someone tell me why we selected Poholke in the draft?

Coz these are the things I have never seen from him:

  • Pressure around the ball
  • Strong mark
  • Strong defense
  • Strong goal sense
  • Strong tackling
  • Quick run
  • Evasiveness in tight

So why is he on our list? Yes I know he is only 10 or so games in, but any half decent player at least shows something of these in that time.

I think his one big strength is that he was a non SA born kid who was happy to play in Adelaide. Not many suitors in Vic. "Elite standards"

You lot are pretty forgetful when it suits you.
Did you forget Matt crouch? Pretty much the worst call on here apart from Marty. Maybe even line ball with Marty given how staunch you were. You still think you can pick em over the majority?

I don't think anyone's calling Milera a world beater. Definitely not better than Rioli. But he's definitely improved on last year.

Pretty simple review as that was the expected result coming into this game.

Good:
Doedee was huge all night. Owning that loose defender role.
I liked Jenkins game for when he was involved. Definitely the shining light of the forward line.
Gallucci kicked a nice goal, but was on a hiding to nothing being a small forward in a game like that. We really need to begin to move him into the midfield.
Higher draft pick :)

Meh:
Milera - some good moments, some bad moments. He's a slow burn but is getting there to a high end player.

Bad:
Tex - That was bad from him.
Poholke - Needs to go back to the SANFL
Hampton - should be career over.

That's probably about it really. Was just a poor game all round, but i'll take poor games for a higher draft pick from herein.

Good
Doedee, midfield did alright but too many blind kicks.
We weren’t dreadful, just Richmond were on top of their game and were no match.
Galluccis goal

Bad
Taylor picks and chooses when to put in effort; never seen this from Pendlebury or Cotchin. Co captains next year please.
Lynch, what happened
Hampton, good luck in the future sorry.
Pohoke isn’t AFL standard, not ready to write a kid off in his first year though.
