He jumped the shark after 2Low4Zero in 1984. Everything he did afterwards was rubbish.

Breaking Hearts was 84 mate, Too Low For Zero was the year before. Absolutely agree with you that he hasn't made a decent album, but since the 70's is how far I go back for that. For all his tiffs, tiaras and tantrums, aunty elton has done more than his share for a number of causes.

The man is seriously talented. His stuff from the 70s is supreme quality and his voice is majestic.

a girl i know in London was a photographer when she first finished school and did some paparazzi work. Anyway a group of photographers were taking photos of elton john and she was in the group and also happened to be the only female. Elton picked her out of the group and told her he hoped she would get cancer of the campaigner.

Anyway this situation made her semi infamous and journalists from all the tabloids wanted her story but she decided to not do anything with it as she didn't want to be known for the girl elton john said that to.

That is a disgusting thing to say. He sounds like an absolute creep of a man.

When he did his numerous tours of Australia word has it (and a few tabloid current affair stories) he hired young fit blokes to be his play thing. The way he reportably treated his play things is so in character to the story you share.

I think as much as he was a selfish nasty sociopath, some of his music was absolutely beautiful, straight from a soul.

Perhaps his drug use invoked his self consciousness?

Don't really care for what he is like as a man, but his music is great. Before he had vocal chord surgery (think he had it in'86), his range was amazing. Could hit high notes with ease. Taupin/John are a great team, and without one, you couldn't appreciate the other.

Let's be honest, paparazzi are scum of the Earth. While his actions were completely uncalled for, I'd be ****ing shitty if people were following me around with cameras all day too. We all have bad days.

There are plenty of pop music pianists around. Five For Fighting, Kate Bush, Rufus Wainwright, that dude from the Whitlams, the dude from Coldplay.

People like Elton John don't show up every day though.

He did a roots type album with Leon Russell of Mad Dogs and Englishman fame that is well worth having a look at. For all his queeny flamboyance, Elton remains a blueser at heart.
He named his first kid after the late, great Levon Helm too.
