Bahaha! If they were leaving to maintain their own standard of cricket - they'd have to leave to play some B grade comp somewhere... They did come last...

You say they are leaving in their droves, there must be a few going... Care to put some weight behind what you are saying and name some?
Not suprising considering the size of some of the ego's in Woodends Mac team last year. Heard that Gards is going to Gisborne, Luke Barker was said to be going to Macedon but the mail is that he will stay on with Woodend ( im sure he thinks he would dominate in B grade ), The big international Wazza Else still not confirmed either. Rocket seems to want a 26 or so man squad to cover the 1sts and 2nds, not a bad idea but he has put alot of noses out of joint already, especially with not starting tuesday and thursday arvo traing until a week before the season starts?????? Chafing, How is rocket fitting in and will he be captain of your firsts this year?

I think rocket has enough on his hands managing his own game, let alone the players from an entire club. Who appointed him??? They must have had rock(et)s in their head!

To be honest my first spiel is only second hand info, but from a pretty reliable source. Even tho i'm OS at the moment and cant wait to get back next week Im not looking forward to what the new and improved(read--relegated but working on the future)WCC has in store. Yes keane is an interesting addition to Gilbert Gordon, but will the punt pay off??

It will be interesting to see how the players outside the 26 react. I would tip one of the lower sides to make finals, and that come March Flash and his merry men will be playing video games.

no surely your not implying that the good kind folk down at ashfield would ever turn a blind eye to a absolute plumb lbw or perhaps momentarily loose their hearing when a huge snick comes off the bat straight to the keeper ?
because if you are YOUR SPOT ON !
Don't know about Ashfield cheating never seen it never will i know 2 blokes from C-grade and 2 guys from ashhies E-grade team that will give thier own teammate out without hesitation Get facts right ??? As for angry men maybe head up to ashfield 1 saturday after the game and u will see the most Happiest and the best club Socially in my 13 years at the club i have never seen a fight dont know many clubs that can say that also things r looking good this year 3 teams new coach great sponser Find something decent to talk about Maybe just worry about ya training Angry Club I dont think so

Never said they cheated mate, was just interesting that what they thought was a caught and bowled was actually a bump ball, after being verbally abused and threatened they refused to play on until someone else came out to umpire. Must have them confused with another Ashfield CC:rolleyes:

Maybe when your out walk dont cheat i remember the incident woodend it was woodend batsman woodend umpire so dont say ashfield carry on when it was us on the recieving end like i said ashfield happy to get on with things can't say the same for others i remember trapping someone LBW gdca umpire called it out then batsman came running up to me with a bat lucky us ashfield boys can look after ourselves that player didnt do that again Once again Ashfield good club NOT CHEATS Last i want to hear about that

I'll say it again, I never said they were cheats. And they werent happy to get on with things until they got an ump they were happy with. I understand your standing up for your club, thats great, and I mean no disrespect, Last you want to hear about that?...........sheesh

cmon buddy pull your head out of the sand !
im tipping everyone who has played ashfield would have a story to tell regarding their ONFIELD behaviour and their UMPIRING skills.
no one is taking pot shots at anyone personally were just stating the facts , ashfield have been tarred with this brush there fore they must deal with it and in time peoples perceptions of the club may just change. but for the mean time i doubt it very much

Can there be a market for bowlers in Macs taking 5 for's?

I 'll start

Boffey (Rup): 1.05
Thornton (Gis): 1.10
Hughes (Unit): 1.20
Grant (Rid): 2.00
Smits (Mac): 3.50
Lock (Rom): 4.00
Hanson (Wal):6.00
O'loughlin (Bach): 15.00

A great market!!!! Thornton.. great smokey. Traditional slogging tail ender who could get lucky.
Romsey boys are short... i didnt think they new how to score hundreds. I thought they were only good for some half tons in one dayers??
My money on Hughes to score the first ton. A string of one dayers to start against medium pacers.... S&*#!! What is paying for a double ton???
Who is W Hall?? Recruit?

Umpire? do you know how many umpires are gracing the GDCA this season?? How many grades will be covered? Just need to know so i can frame a market for C grade.
No umpires in C grade = Ashfield favourites.

I hear that HUGHES will be batting in the middle order all year like he did in the Grand Final.

Apart from Kevvy who could be quick on his day, who did Rupo ever have that was quick???
For a long time now they have relied on there military mediums. If their Pom doesn't come back their bowling relies alot on Boffey, and he does wobble it abit (some say there is more wobble in his run up then his bowling)
Not many out and out quicks in the comp anymore. In fact with Wadden still not sure he will be bowling there isn't anyone to make batsmen tremble. Most sides rely on medium pacers who can hit the spot and get it too do a little.

So if Hughes is a Medium pacer then what does that make the rest of the bowlers in the GDCA?? When was the last time you faced Hughes P/C??? Last time i faced him he was Quick/Medium/Slow and moved them around !!!!!!

Disgraceful decision cancelling round one. Move it to Sunday or have a 20/20 match starting at 10
Doesnt really matter Georgie, Its lucky for Woodend though, they havent even named their captains yet, terrible organisation by the committe.......as usual:thumbsdown: Good to see the sun out though and glad to be home. Bring on the new season.

If this is true, I think it's a good decision. I would have thought to much people would be hungover to play on Sunday plus the NRL grand final is on.

Will the league consider playing 2 one dayers on a Saturday and Sunday on another weekend to make up for round 1.

Behomesoon - Never said Hughes wasn't quality - but he isn't an out and out speed demon. He hits the spot more often then most and does a bit with it, which is pretty much what I said in my last post!!!
When his body is right he is probably sharper then almost anyone else going around in the comp, which is exactly my point. If the bloke is 40ish and he's sharper then most - how quick can the bowlers be??????

Tim Dawe at Macedon should be pretty sharp

He played all his juniors at Macedon, has been down town for the past 2 or 3 years, had some shoulder trouble last season. He's been training the past few weeks, should be the penetrating bowler the cats have been looking for.

Dawe will be very handy. Just need to find some batsmen that can build an innings instead of leaving it to Smits to carry the top order.got plenty of batsmen who can swing from the ass but go wanting when required to bat for extended time in the middle.hopefully Grumont will be the acquisition that they need.
