Gents,

I think the demise of the fast bowler in the GDCA has already been discussed in great detail in this forum. It might be time to move on.. This is definately the era of the medium pace trundler...

More importantly the place is a a buzz with talk of the trouble gisborne and woodend will find themsleves in this season. Macedon will have to come into close favourtism given the their recruitment of cricketers from both clubs.

Any other big movers elsewhere?.. Wallan talk seems quiet. Have they picked any up??

Betting market is closed atm, odds to come very soon for McIntyre.

Wallan thought we had picked up 2 quality players from craigeburn but then after they attended a few training sessions they wanted to get paid. From last years team it looks like Scott Gilchrist & Todd Keenen won't be playing.

Why would you say Woodend is in trouble? Not in McIntyre anymore... Got a young group of players who are getting better every day! Wouldn't write Woodend off just yet.

Club had a Season Launch about a month ago, 2 months before the first ball, with over 80 turning up to celebrate the start of their 150th season and to welcome their new coach.

So i dont know where those comments were coming from, but we're looking forward to a great season ahead.

Chafing, good to see there were a lot of numbers at your launch, 80 odd in total.
Time will tell how many of your Mac players from last year have been retained, about 5 weeks actually.
My mail is that top line woodend cricketers are leaving in droves to maintain there own standard of cricket. Shame really. Hope the young ones are up to it.

Had a good look at the Rupo boys at Sunbury indoor centre the other day. Saw their skipper creaming them. Looks like he might ton up this season, he was in great touch.
 
Had a look at Van Dan Done's stats from previuos years, if he is tonning up its an improvement.

Given the weather patterns lately i think there will be more clubs spending more time in pubs then playing due to washouts. The way we are going turf comps wont start until mid november.

Bahaha! If they were leaving to maintain their own standard of cricket - they'd have to leave to play some B grade comp somewhere... They did come last...

You say they are leaving in their droves, there must be a few going... Care to put some weight behind what you are saying and name some?

Chafing - The rumours as I have heard them is that 2 blokes are going to Macedon and 1 going to Melton - but as I say that is what I have heard only.
You seem to be closer to the coal face - why don't you shed some light on it for everyone? Have all the "names" committed to playing this year?
While we are at it, I noticed it says on here that Grumont and Lethborg have been cleared to Macedon, but a source close to Gisborne tells me the are definately staying.
Don't you just love the rumour mill............................

your "source" must not be in the no to much down at the gcc as grumont has definately signed at macedon as is as keen as mustard to play there, there is ZERO chance he will be playing at gisborne this year.
lethborg has put in a clearance but i believe it was rejected, but from what i hear from him he will also be playing at mcc this season.

A great market!!!! Thornton.. great smokey. Traditional slogging tail ender who could get lucky.
Romsey boys are short... i didnt think they new how to score hundreds. I thought they were only good for some half tons in one dayers??
My money on Hughes to score the first ton. A string of one dayers to start against medium pacers.... S&*#!! What is paying for a double ton???

Umpire? do you know how many umpires are gracing the GDCA this season?? How many grades will be covered? Just need to know so i can frame a market for C grade.
No umpires in C grade = Ashfield favourites.

no surely your not implying that the good kind folk down at ashfield would ever turn a blind eye to a absolute plumb lbw or perhaps momentarily loose their hearing when a huge snick comes off the bat straight to the keeper ?

Brenton Hanson has been offered money to go to other clubs but I'm 90% sure he will play at Wallan. Fowler will play most of the year in our 2's. Might get a game or two in the macs..

Paul Miller would be a big chance to ton up for wallan. Made a double ton and another ton last year in B grade.

I Concur. Only played a couple of games in C grade last yr and one of them was against the ashers. Needless to say I hope for the sake of the other C grade sides that there will be umpires in that grade. Ashfield can, at times, be a bunch of very angry men.

Let's just say that losing two GFs on the same weekend for your only two teams by large margins might be some karma for decisions made over the journey....

No mention of Belcher? Bit harsh - he is one of the out and out class bats in the comp. While were at it Grumont, Lethborg, Wakefield, S.Walsh didn't rate a mention here either. Where do they fit in Angler?

yes well spotted old chap. Belcher an obvious one left out. He is a valued scalp of the opposition. I would put him at $1.20 to ton up. The others are not really worth considering. Wakefield is a 50's scorer and gets out playing rash shots when he is in. I would post him at $15. Lethborg's attitude to cricket is very dubious. Doesn't seem to care that much. Should stick to driving go-carts. Put him at $20. S Walsh and Grumont: not even going to encourage any bets on them. Not impressed by either of them.
