bfl bigfooty thread says Brent Mcleod signed at Ocean Grove over the weekend.
some blokes i know at Thomson confirmed. big loss for the interleague squad.. good result for thomson coz i herd hes a huge flog

Not sure replacing a 90 odd goal onballer plus 35-40 touches a game is a good result for the club that has to try replace. thomson miss finals without mcloed. anyone else to follow suit and leave?

The belmont lions have now cleared their debts, paid their players and assigned a new treasurer and Vice President.
They are currently in a position now where they are ready to spend money on players and recruit what the need to build around their strong spine and leadership.
Sorry to sound rude, but they are no where near the situation (debacle) going on at Corio on and off field.

Did the money come from the GDFL?
If Belmont found it hard to pay players this year how can they go out and spend more money on recruits for 2017.

twice in a decade they over extended themselves n been unable to pay players on time n faced heavy debt. poor administration spending above their means.
wuld b great to see them on the bottom like the last time this happened

I don't know which club you're affiliated with but that's a terrible thing to say.
Belmont have great people in it and are a family club, the fact that these unfortunate circumstance have occurred such as lack of player payments on time is down to one person and one person only, not reflecting on the whole club!

every club has good people. That's not an excuse to not budget or do your finances n not pay players. Dnt blame 1 person. The whole committee shuld hav been across the situation after rd 4 when there was no money to pay anyone..but they kept spending didn't they?

sounds like nobody is re-signing anyway so you might get what's coming to ya.

Any names to speak of that aren't re-signing? Besides obviously Harrison.

Agree that the committee needs to have been all over this early, should've learnt from past mistakes.

Belmont do have good people around the club the trouble this year there was to many important jobs left to people that were not qualified to get the job done.
there has been a few tweaks at committee level the situation is retrievable and there is a lot of water to go under the bridge before the first game.
Belmont will be ok.:):)

Was a bit more interested in the re-signing aspect side of things, you seem to know a bit about what's going on at the den so any news?

There are plenty of good people at the Lions so a shame something like this has happened and I'm sure they'll get everything sorted out for the better, would hate to think something like this will set them back player wise.

Which clubs and where are you getting your info from? Edge has retired due to work but other than that the rest should stay on

'Should' stay on is a bit flakey, but losing all those players would be a major loss. Any notable players signed on already yearofthedog16 ? Probably best to focus on some positives surrounding the club as they've copped a fair whack so far.

very rare people giv a source on bigfooty champ.. all I kno is when u lose guys to rival gdfl clubs n cdfl clubs its probably 4 money. which they werent gettin at belmont. ull know im right wen they rnt at training in a week

Just wondering which clubs in the district competition have the ambition to progress into the higher competition tiers.(starts next year)
Requires a 50% increase in player budget to be competitive and with the points system which demands a strong junior component for sustainability. Right now only Bannockburn Werribee Inverleigh North are close but watch this space .... the club that may surprise by 2020 could be the GIANTS Apologies to the Panthers but I am not sure they are ready willing or able to pay 100k on Players on a regular basis to compete long term in Div 2. Their culture has enabled them to complete their goals at half that rate

What's your sources?
Apart from Harrison, all rumours so far and working towards re signing them all
Adam beath another young gun from Belmont left with Harrison to north Eugene is heading to cdfl
And everyone knows about Brodie wanting to focus on work and have. Gap year

Going to be a massive slide of standard in the GDFL there has been no significant signings only losses, 2best players in the league in MCLeod and Carson gone. Look at the BFL signing stars left right and centre how clubs like Ocean Grove stay under the cap is bewildering. The league must up the cap immediately

No league to worry about in 12 months time

So the Bellarine boys are being aggressive this year ( not sustainable) due to pressure of changes planned, and the GDFL will react if and when the 4th division is muted to begin. Sounds like common sense and market forces are driving the player movement. Everybody wants to land a big fish or bring their ex juniors home .
The clubs in the league will find their place over time based on their members contributions long term not a short term mercenary player/coach

Any news on new recruits at any clubs? How will Thomson and Inverleigh go with losing there best player? Top 5 predictions?

Not sure on any main signings but Thomson will slip outside of the top 5 without replacing Macleod with a similar player. 90 goals is a huge loss.Inverleigh won't hurt as much depending on recruiting another forward.Early stages but top 5 end of home and away.
3 certainties could throw in Werribee for numbers only.

Bannockburn
Bell post hill
Inverleigh
Anakie
Nth Geelong
