If we aren't nearly as terrible, and May can play a full 22 games next year, he'll be AA. When he's actually played, he's been excellent.
Hasn’t so much as made the 40 man squad in his first 9 years, he’s going to have to find some untapped ability he’s never shown he has

Can we have an ‘Airing of Grievances’ thread? Might be a good laugh 😂

Where's that nickgrant bloke and his napalm thread when you need it?

This.

No excuse for the overall season, but you very rarely see players who've had no preseason have a decent year. It's constantly talked about in the industry, by players and coaches alike.

That said, these campaigners can go on their cozy holidays to Europe and USA in September yet again, but when they get back they'll have minimal excuses to not get a decent run at it for 2020 preseason.

If I was the captain I’d be making it stick that pre season starts 2 weeks earlier than normal. * holidays. You don’t get a holiday for being s**t.

Next week v Swans could be one of lower Friday night crowds in a long while.

Yep, reckon it'll have been at least 6 days since there was a lower Friday night crowd ;)

Well this is what I mean....we need a new captain
The trouble is, all the talk now that gawn should be captain is exactly the same as when people said viney should be captain. Before that Jones should have been.

Whoever is captain really is irrelevant. We have a soft underbelly. Lewis speaks as well as anyone, yet he is past his best and struggling to even hold his place in the team. Lever speaks well, but he is coming back from a long term injury and has probably got to get 10-15 games in a row to feel at home again. May is the same, needs a big preseason. McDonald speaks well, but he hasn't got thst ruthless streak either.

Until all of those leaders are on the same page, and the next batch coming through in petracca, Oliver, harmes etc are following on that example, we are going to have that soft underbelly and keep accepting 10 goals unanswered in games, or we are going to allow first gamers pushing our ruckman around. Just a soft mentality.

The gulf between Viney and Gawn could not be more vast

Fair point, but Gawn has at least shown some kind of sustained on field success, enough to suggest he isn't a flash in the pan like Viney, and may actually be able to handle it. Jones was just our only option at the point he was picked up.

Yeah, I get that and viney has been fairly average this year. He still has had some fantastic games, but like most of our midfield, the difference between his good games and bad games is too far. His bad games he still needs to have 6 or 7 tackles and get his 22-25 possessions. But more often than not it's 2 or 3 tackles, and down around 15-17 possessions. Hopefully he gets through the next 2 games and then has another good preseason so he can learn that spread/easy footy that is holding him back. He gets that, or starts giving the first option to harmes or those in space, we will be a lot better for it. He needs to trust his teammates a little more to give the ball off, not try to bulldoze through 7 opposition mids. Viney is far from a flash in the pan, but he needs to work on that or else he risks just being an average midfielder his whole career.
