Geary

Played a damn fine game tonight!

A couple of stages there he seemed to be everywhere. How good will he be with a good number of games under his belt & experience!!!

Worked hard behind the play too
:thumbsu:

I only had time to watch the last quarter but what i saw of Geary he was playing more a tagging role, and had a hard job on 19, sorry name slips my mind, the young Aboriginal lad. It was interesting watching Geary around the pack, tagging him, he did a top job, was right on his hammer when the ball was being bounced. Only had eyes for the tagging job. I thought he did a top job. He is being groomed well by the hierarchy.

Was very good again!

Really happy with him, not bad for a 5th round rookie selection

He was an All-Australian Under 18 wasn't he?

Either he or Robert Eddy was anyway.

Be interesting to hear what perceived weakness he had to slip through the net.

Yeah, I noticed that, was Eddie Betts. :thumbsu:

He had broken his elbow that year & I think his lack of size counted against him with most recruiters. I'm pretty sure the elbow was that year. Don't think he was in AA contention.

Yep, it was Eddy.

You do know that Jones is 24, right? Older than Dal, Ball, Gram, Schneider, Goose, BJ, L.Fisher etc.

Geary won the B&F at Bendigo as a bottom age player but badly broke his forearm the next year and only played 3 games.

he was 18 when he won ithe B&F with 14 games or so, couldnt play again in tac cup unless he went for that u/19 rule, played every game as under age had to have surgery on his arm missed 3 of the last games, and made the TAC team of the year not all australian.

I think he was chasing Betts tail for all the second half and got well worked over. That said it will be a good lesson for him as he will need to keep developing if he is to maintain a spot in the team throughout the year.

Josh Hill from the Doggies. Sounds like he deserved it, done well last 2 weeks.

Thanks. I've only seen his first game against the Crows, and yes, he played very well. I don't know about Round 2, but I must guess he played even better...

Why do you say that 'karnaby', how many did Betts kick, i thought he did a good job in the last quarter, and as i said i didnt watch the first 3/4 so cant comment, i will have to go on what others are saying.
Cheers.

Betts only kicked the one goal and that was right at the end of the match, however I thought that he was very lively & presented well particularly after half time when he had 9 possessions.

I only saw the match on tv but I thought that Geary was matched up on him and got well run around. That said I see it as a good learning experience, if he is to maintain his place in the team he will have to be able to shut an opponent down as well as providing an attacking option (which I think he has already shown that he can do well).

And his in again.

His spot is just about safe until Baker comes back, where he will be one of probably 3 or 4 that MIGHT be dropped.

a 5th round rookie selection.

Great result.

Will he get a game again soon?

(yes this is a DT related question! :o)

How wrong was I.

i had no idea Dempster was fit.

That said, I still think it was pretty impressive how the kid has handelled himself in rounds 1 to 3.

I hope he gets a few more games throughout the season

Hey guys, just wondering if Geary's demotion had anything to do with the bigger bodied Geelong players. The kid can definately play, great first three games and definately didn't deserve an axing IMO. He is very light on (saw him out Saturday night) but he provides pace which i think you guys could really use through the midfield, any chance of seeing him play this week against a quick Essendon side?
