Geelong – most loved to most disliked?

I used to like watching the Cats play but now all that success seems to have bred arrogance and an entitlement mentality. There were a couple of occasions last night, when came in marginally late and it could have been a 50m penalty, but the cats player just pointed and told the ump that they'll take the 50 and went to trot off. Luckily the ump called them back but it should have been play on for stepping over the mark

freo are as good as last year. same time last year didn't they lose to geelong by 40+ at skilled? ross lyon is known for his using the regular season to get his players conditioned for finals. come finals time freo will be just as good as last year. geelong have fallen further from last year than freo. if freo can nearly beat geelong only playing 1 good quarter, imagine what they can do if they string 4 together, which they will do come finals time.

And how has that worked out for him so far in his 8 seasons as a coach? The fact is Freo are NOT as good as last year and will have to pull out all stops to remain in the top four, Geelong were never expected to be in this position pre- season. Remember our time had come, the era was over, the slide had begun, the Dockers won a final at the Cattery, the Cats are toast etc etc. Lyon's negativity has come back to bite him on the arse and looking at Freo's last three matches he had better pull a rabbit out of his coit real quick. Imagine if Geelong played 4 good quarters in a game this year? We haven't either. It's been a long time since i have witnessed such sour grapes after a loss, you can actually feel the desperation of Dockers fans as their season slips away and another opportunity is lost.

It hurt me to watch bartel last night. He's been one of my favourite players over the journey, but last night was just ridiculous. Everytime he grabbed the ball he'd duck his head and move into the oncoming tackle. Didn't make a single effort to avoid contact, deserved the broken nose sadly.

I hated it when west coast were dropping the knees, but it was nothing compared to selwood/christenson/bartel last night.

Csts are 7th in the league for free kicks for and 9th for free kicks against..thats about as even as it gets both ways.

If your over the age of 15 and are in this forum complaining about umpires you need to reassess why you watch football.

Fremantle made the GF last year and is fourth this year. So why do they have the worst free kick diff in the league? They won more contested possies and clearances than Geelong did last night, so it's not like they're not getting to the ball first.

I just find it funny that the teams that always apparently get an armchair ride are the ladder leaders. Essendon apparently got it in 99-01, Brisbane had it for a fe years. Geelong have got an armchair ride since '07 and Sydney and Hawthorn also apparently get one. It's just such predictable and tedious whinging. Geelong don't win games because of free kicks. Whilst I will vigorously debate the Selwood "ducking", I can understand why that grates. Stevie J definitely plays for frees, as did Chapman at times. But to say the whole team does it and have gotten the rub of the green for years is just tribal stupidity.
