I wish people would stop complaining about umpiring. There is NO HIDDEN AGENDA.
Just watch the game.
Complaining just feeds the trolls and makes you seem like a sore loser.
It's no hidden agenda, just pure incompetence and not being strong on impartiality side of it. I watched last night's game and the umpiring was absolutely deplorable. When umpires are unable to be neutral, despite receiving training in it, it impacts the game... more so than even things like COLA. The game's in trouble because there's no umpire talent out there.

Fyfe was playing before Lyon got there and weren't Neale and Sutcliffe both recruited before Ross got there?

All have developed under his tutorship.

The crown jewel would be his mentoring and development of Sonny Walters.

But hey, that conflicts with the popular BF "fact" that RL doesn't develop the youth.

Never liked them. Even when they were winning Grand finals I still went for Port and Saints. The only time I would ever support them is if they were playing the Eagles and even then only begrudgingly.

I had the misfortune until recently of working with a rabid Freo supporter closely. After the weekends games we would discuss what had transpired. He would talk about the Dockers for about 5 minutes then spend the rest of the day boring me to tears with his hatred of the Eagles. He could detail every one of their players and what he didn't like about them plus their coaching staff. It was pathetic.

I asked him one day what he would prefer. Eagles to make the GF and lose or for Freo to win a premiership. The knob actually had to think about it.

The town I live in has a lot of supporters of both clubs, most of the Freo supporters are good, unfortunately there's a few like my ex-work colleague. The funny thing is, the Eagles supporters in town never talk about the Dockers and were barracking for them in the GF last year.

They seem to have a chip on their collective shoulders about being the inferior, little team.

Funny, replace Eagles with Hawthorn and Freo with Geelong and it sums up two of my Geelong supporting (or more so Hawks hating) mates. Talked more about Hawthorn than their own club. I call BS on your GF call, almost all my Eagles supporting friends and family were backing Hawks in the GF (my Geelong work mates weren't though) :)

I'm not trolling, it won't be long til some parent sues the AFL for their kid ending up in a wheelchair because they've tried to get a high free kick and have snapped their back. Mackie got to the ball first, had a chance to stand up, instead ducked looking for a free kick resulting in him getting a severe knock to the head. The only way to stop this is to stop giving players frees for it.

You can't keep the head sacrosanct if the head is being used to win free kicks.

He actually fumbled the ball and looked down to see where it was so that he could pick it up. Try watching a replay. A Freo supporter has posted the video of it on the MRP board, go and have a look.

I don't live in Perth, perhaps in a small community like the one I live in, the football supporters are a bit more intelligent.

I was barracking for Freo in the GF, I had money on Crowley for the NS. By half time I was barracking for Hawthorn, that's how horrible it was to watch Freo.

Would you rather Freo won a flag or the Eagles lose a GF?

Geelong supporters are more obsessed with Hawks than their own club. Little country cousin jealous of a big, successful city club. Must be sad to play in front of a full house of 25k though. :D

And make 3/4 of a million to a million out of it. :thumbsu: I'm sure everyone involved is sad about it.

Never thought much about the Eagles to be honest. Would certainly prefer a Freo flag. No brainer. Leinster must have plenty of Freagles hey?

Geelong used to be one of my favourite teams but the ridiculous run they get with the umps and Selwood's playing for frees have made really unlikable.

Dead last in comp for goals from frees.
Middle of the road for frees for and middle of the road for frees differential.
Please tell me again about this "ridiculous run" we get?

Will have to find the replays and then will get back to you.

Edit. Watched it. Absolute free kick. Still not quite sure about his actions and have some questions
1) did he do enough to protect himself in that situation? Ground ball 101.
2) was he trying to draw a free?
3) did he have a choice?
Legit questions.

When it first happened, I thought he ducked into it and then was milking it. When he came off looking a bit groggy, I thought he'd just been unlucky and got flushed, it looked pretty innocuous. He actually fumbled the ball and had to look down to see where it was to pick it up, that's when Fyfe got him. I think that if he'd gathered it cleanly then he would have been ok, he'd have had time to turn an protect himself. Because he fumbled it just stuffed things up.
