I certainly respected the way they went about it in their 3 flag years even though every loss to the Cats has burnt.
But recently with the combination of factors : playing for free kicks constantly and then trying to umpire the game by certain individuals (selwood, hawkins), head coaches arrogance in the media, and one or two 'finger twirlers', I've lost most respect for the way they go about it on game day.
That's not to take anything away from the job they do off the field which is impressive.
Saying all that I'd prefer the Cats to beat AFL Cola $ydney in a GF any day.

Haha there's been plenty of games Geelong has ruled us up by playing the man and plenty of games I've maintained you were the umpire's pets. Such is football.
This is the problem with hawk fans in general. Over the last few years it is you guys getting more frees and being on the right side of the ledger a lot more often than not.
In the 2 home and away games we played last year, the hawks had a combined free kick count in their favour of 49-32.
17 more frees than us. If that was our way, can you imagine the flow of tears from hawk supporters??
yes you did every fricken week. also was told he only played well cos of the other midfielders around him every week. The Ablett bashing has fallen 30 fold since he left Geelong.
thats because hawks fans outweigh cats fans 2 to 1 at every game because we play all our games in your home city and the crowd only gets upset when hawthorn feel hard done by and not the other way around. If Selwood got those two frees near goal that puopolo got there would of been riots in the stands and the media would be talking about it all week. Your team are pets and the only reason you dont realise it is cos the mob is on your side.

Hawthorn deserve to be where they are. They have the best coach in the league who can turn journeymen into excellent players, and implement novel game plans. Apart from the occasional Hodge act or Puopolo duck, which is no more than every team does, Hawthorn actually play the game as it should be played.
Geelong , on the other hand, are in the four purely on the basis of their ability to "draw free kicks" which is fawning commentator speak for cheat. They have five players who specialise in it.

Take at least 16 points off your total and see if you would make the top four. Geelong are the same level as Essendon and North Melbourne.

If you or I took the time to look at every free kick he has earned in his career so far. I'm sure 90% of them would have been warranted.

This Selwood whinging is frankly, well and truly overblown.

That's right. You weren't the better team. You cheated. You deliberately ducked and dived to gain free kicks at critical times, which is outside the spirit of the game. As a result Geelong are on a higher position on the ladder than they deserve.

As for the game I'm sure you're referring to with free kicks. We beat you fair and square, we led for most of the game, and deserved to be the winners. Stop whinging about free kicks, it makes you look like a sore loser/sook
