I don't think any of us are brave enough to say that next year is our year, but I think with the recruitment of Nathan Ablett (and Ottens), our future looks very very good. I think that if we can't win the premiership next year, then we definately will in 2006, so what do you think that premiership team will be??

My selections:

B: Josh Hunt (24), Matthew Scarlett (27), Tim Callan (22)
HB: Darren Milburn (29), Tom Harley (28), Corey Enright (24)
C: James Kelly (22), Cameron Ling (25), Kane Tenace (21)
HF: Joel Corey (24), Nathan Ablett (20), Steve Johnson (23)
F: Paul Chapman (24), Brad Ottens (26), Andrew Mackie (22)
RUCKS: Steven King (27), Gary Ablett (22), James Bartel (22)
INT: Cameron Mooney (27), David Haynes (25), David Wojcinski (26), Paul Koulorotis (24)

EMG (from): Matthew Spencer, Mark Blake, David Johnson, Shannon Byrnes, Will Slade

What do you think?

[Edit: Updated with 2006 ages]

too many unknowns too predict. Can we keep the side together under the salary cap constraints ? there might be another high profile player wanting to join us at the end of 2005 ? who will be injured along the way ? will any of the rookies stand up?

I think this shows that we need to start thinking about players to replace Harley, Scarlett and Milburn. Spencer would be one and we have a few half back flankers, but who can take over the full back position?

B: Callan Scarlett Milburn
HB: Corey Harley Enright
C: Tenace Bartel Hunt
HF: Gardiner Ling Mackie
F: S.Johnson Ottens Thurley
RUCK: King Kelly G.Ablett
INT(from): N.Ablett, Blake, Byrnes, Chapman, Mooney, Rooke, & Wojcinski

Corey to take over Milburns role as the sweeper and playmaker off the HBF, G.Ablett, Kelly, and Bartel to develop into the premier midfield unit in the competition, Hunt to develop into a goal-kicking wingman, Ling to lead by example at CHF with Gardiner and Mackie playing as the tall leading options up the ground, while Thurley will show us all why he was drafted by becoming a very dangerous small forward who can both crumb and mark, in addition, N.Ablett, Blake, and Byrnes will all develop into very good and skillful players, while Chapman, Mooney, Rooke, and Wojcinski will continue to add some experience, depth and hardness.

Looks as if we are looking at a possible golden era for the club, i think these teams look very good and even in 2006 we are not an 'old' team as say Brisbane are at the minute. We are entering our time for a premiership hope we can make the most of it.

Geelong to win next years premiership? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Someone that doesn't know that somewhere is one word and supports Richmond, mocking others.

The irony is delicious.

Now run along little one for you shall receive a severe smack with that wooden spoon if you continue coming up with such brilliant mocking.

only way Richmond'll ever win it in the next five years is if they flip the ladder upside down.

u guys are putting the pressure on nathan to play so soon

You think he reads Bigfooty?

I don't expect him to debut until 2006, but hardly think a couple of people saying he'll be playing CHF in a few years is putting pressure on him.

Since you like jokes so much how about this one?

Richmond: 2 finals campaigns in 22 years.

Pretty funny eh? :D

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That's pure gold :D

But serioursly, why wouldn't Nathan debut next year? He won't play every game, but he is big enough to play a couple. Just put him in a forward pocket, where he can use his athleticism and height to create a tough match-up. Maybe in 06 he can get a regular role as a key forward. Will be interesting though in a couple of years, because we will have Mackie, Lonergan and Ablett all pushing for key spots in the forward line. Kingsley had better start kicking straight.
