I believe Sydney has only missed the finals once since 2002. That's pretty impressive too.
Our GF record not as impressive unfortunately. Still very happy with the 2 flags but we needed a 3rd to be comparable to Geelong and Hawthorn over the same time period.

Impressive. Even more so with the current list. No real forward line, success off the back of basically 2 players.. unfortunately for Geelong supporters I don't think they pose any real threat this year and most teams would be licking their lips to play Geelong in a grand final if you guys manage to get that far.. But they still sit up (near) the top of the ladder. Impressive.

I personally would not be 'licking my lips' at the prospect of playing any team on GF day- have a day out and you can win it.
2008, 2012, 2014, 2016 the favourites lost.

The crows are what, 1- 1 against the swans
1-1 against the cats, 1-0 against the giants. Wouldn't get too confident!

Exactly. That's what's impressive about it imo. I don't know many teams that could have geelongs list and be top 4.

I mean seriously do you guys even have a forward line?

I don't rate the coach either so god knows how you guys are doing it. Must be good leadership from the leadership group imo demanding of each other.

I don't think you will go far come finals, but never the less what has been achieved with this list so far this year is still impressive.

We have the fourth most prolific forward of the last 6 years, a centre half back who kicked a bag of goals against the minor premiers, and an injury prone medium forward who, last time I looked, was in the top 10 in the league for goals per game.

So yes. It might not be 100 per cent functional but we do, indeed, have a forward line.

Edit: And the best player in the sport happens to kick a couple per game as well when he's not racking upi touches in the middle.

Certainly a great effort for this day and age but can't call it unprecedented, Collingwood alone have bettered that 3 different times:

20 times in 22 years 1901-1922
14 times in 15 years 1925-1939
10 times in 11 years 1964-1974

I think Carlton and Hawthorn also have eras with longer streaks.
IMO under performed. Should have a minimum of 4 Flags and certainly 5. It's a great effort in today's 18 team competition and compromised fixture, but somehow as good as their win/loss record is, they fall short by one Premiership. That will cop criticism, but look at that list from 2007 -2011. I count 2006 as the big lost opportunity. There are many factors, however the Geelong era has been great for old fans like myself so i'm not really bitching about it, but you must seize every opportunity when it comes around and be ruthless about it. Carlton and Hawthorn were simply more ruthless in their eras with teams that were probably not as good? Look at the Dogs, after 62 years of heartbreak they finally get off the leash, then within one year they are back in the kennel!
Geelong may yet shock and surprise this year?

Pretty proud of that consistency. I'd swap a few for an extra flag but 3 was still plenty and to still be thereabouts is a great effort. We're a bit off the pace but 3 good performances in the finals and you never know.

I'd be inclined to go with the idea that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and that you're still upset Danger has left. You've won 1 more game than us.

The Sydney/GWS of the world have too much depth for the Cats IMHO.

Most rabble think that grand finals are the best judge of success. Thats rubbish, most top four finishes after home and away games are played is where its at.

Very pleased with yet another successful year and hoping for at least one more top four before we lose a few more to retirements, go cats.
