On the brink of 9 top 4 finishes over the last 11 seasons, thoughts?
Don't give a **** to be honest.

But now that you mention it, what a waste. Three flags with 11 years of Top 4 finishes; that's actually shitful.

Would rather be a Hawthorn supporter, as would most.

What a strange comment.

You know you could be a Hawks supporter, any time you wanted? That's how most of them start.

Been a powerhouse club along with Hawks and Sydney. Hopefully we can win the premiership this year and even things up with Hawthorne. What a rivalry that has been!

Over the last 11 years Hawthorn have won 4 flags, Geelong have won 3. Hawthorn won 3 in a row. Hawthorn are better. Top 4 means stuff all if you can't convert.
I said top 2, not top 4.

Premierships 2007-2017
Hawthorn 4
Geelong 3
Sydney 1
Collingwood 1
Western Bulldogs 1

If Geelong win the flag, then that could be said about them, until then though....
Should be 4 flags each after this season, then the Hawks won't have anything to hang their hat on, as we have them covered in every other statistical measure there is.

Geez 8 times top 2. That is outstanding. Basically means at least two finals in Victoria each year.

One wonders how I've had any money left for spring racing carnival after constantly ponying up for finals tickets.
I know it's ridiculous, although on the flip side, since we never have to leave Victoria to play finals, it means I save money as I don't have to pay for flights and a hotel.

We've finished 2nd in 6 of the last 9 seasons too, it seems as though it's our favourite spot on the ladder.

Hard to respect Geelong because they cheat.
Did Steven Trigg and Kurt Tippett slip your mind or something?

Also, if we did cheat, then our club is even better run than I thought, to run a club wide doping program and get away with it completely would be unprecedented.

Yep. Time to rename them the Geelong Claytons

In all seriousness it's ridiculous though, hopefully for the sake of the rest of us it ends soon. With Geelong, hawks and Sydney locking up 3 of the top 8 almost every year the other 15 teams are basically fighting over 5 spots.

6 spots. You wont need to worry about Hawthorn for a very long while.

I guarantee that the average IQ of our supporter base is higher than that of Geelong's.

You just have to visit Corio (lovely place btw) to see your average Geelong supporter.

Tippett had a 3rd party contract with Balfours and it was the same sort of contract as Joel Selwood's contract with Cotton On. Funny how the AFL stripped us of our first and second round draft picks because of Tippett's contract with Balfours yet they did nothing about Selwood's contract with Cotton On.

Also I was referring to Geelong's poaching of players from other clubs with dirty money as a form of cheating. Cheats don't deserve respect.
Post of the year contender.

What dirty money is that, exactly?

Lucky I'm not even from Victoria, by the way.

Interesting how we aren't allowed to pick up players from elsewhere but you are.

Boy did Eddie have some good years with the crows straight after being drafted.

What part of Adelaide is Broken Hill in, by the way?

Nothing wrong with Corio. The people that live there are fine.

If you really want to be freaked out though...pay a visit to Melbourne's inner north. A nasty cocktail of drug addicts and SJWs.

Hawthorn finished top four in 9 out of 10 seasons between 1982-1991, and made the Grand Final (ergo, finishing top two) in 8 of those.

That is true. I mean Harry Taylor kicking bags? How shit must the opposition be for that to happen?
Two of his 4+ goal games this year have come against the other top three sides (Adelaide, Richmond) who have notably miserly defences, and a third came against the reigning premier. He's hardly beating up minnows.

There were only 12 teams. So top 4 = top 33%. Which is the equivalent of finishing top 6 today. Impressive but not that impressive.

Geelong have also done that (finished top 33% 9 out of the past 10 seasons.. as well as 10 of the last 11). I didn't feel that was worth making a thread about. 9 Top 2 finishes however is completely unprecedented and unrivaled.
