Look we've done a Geelong 2017 Defence and Forwards why not do a midfield one.
My Midfield Group is: Mark Blicavs, Mitch Duncan, Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood, Scott Selwood, Sam Menengola, Cameron Guthrie and George Horlin-Smith.

Obviously some will play off Half Back or Forward.
I would have Parfitt, Lang Next in line

What about you guys

I'd have:
C: Duncan Menegola Guthrie
R: Smith J.Selwood Dangerfield

Rotating through:
Ruck/KPF: Stanley
Mid/3rd man up: Blicavs
Tagger/inside mid: S.Selwood
Occasionally in the middle: Cockatoo, Menzel, Lang

Motlop will no doubt spend a fair bit of time on the wing and we might see guys like Touhy, Thurlow, Mackie, Murdock, Cunico, Parfitt and Cowan their as well. It's harder to pin down the midfield though as it's a bit more fluid than defense and attack.

Does well in the VFL and needs a proper AFL chance. Give him 2-3 games and if he's not up to standard then turf him out
Hm...

The question is who does he replace. I'd love to give him a chance but unless there's a list of injuries long enough to give him that chance, I don't understand why we'd play him over someone who's a proven performer at AFL level.

If Blicavs is a midfielder we are no hope. He plays as a back up ruckman, develops into a key defender or doesnt play.
Hopefully they've learnt from last year. I'm not confident.

Largely agree, though I'd prefer to see Menz stay forward and Mots stay running off the wing and roaming the F50. Don't mind Cowan running thru the middle a bit, and perhaps Parfitt and Narkle getting a run too.

efa. He's not a defender. Can't defend to save himself.

I firmly believe that if he spends the summer alongside Scarlo, Lonners and Taylor he can turn into one.

Don't forget about four or five years ago he wasn't even playing footy. Now he's a Carji Greaves medallist and they're trying to make new rules to curb his dominance at going third man up in ruck contests.

Doubt dominance is the right word

Maybe dominance is too strong a word, but he must've been doing something right if they're looking to nip it in the bud though.

Well he's dominant at it compared to the rest of the comp. averages 6 per game. Next best is Wines with 3 per game. So twice as good as the next best exponent.

From what I've seen he just doesn't look like he can become a defender. Maybe it can be learned but I just don't see it with him. I'm not sure even the club has plans to form him into one either? I think his best bet is to play as a second ruck who runs and runs and runs when he's on the ball to exploit his opponents inferior tank.

He is a 1 trick pony
No he's not.

He's shown an ability to ruck or tag. Is excellent at 3rd man up and runs his opponent off their legs. There are many things he can't do but there's a few things he can do.

He's my starting no.2 ruck, ahead of Stanley.

I reckon we have already seen enough... There has only ever been 1 game where he has been in our best players in the seniors, that was 3 years ago in sydney, that same year we had guys of a similar level in stringer and schroder playing yet they got de-listed soon after. Makes you wonder how GHS has survived so long.

Yep. His major competitive edge is his tank and running ability. It would be ludicrous to play him down back. Needs to play between the arcs.
