Geelong and Hawthorn record monumentally embarrassing 170000 page shitfight thread - Part 3

Geelong Supporters - are they Victoria's dirty little secret?

  • Yes, thank goodness they're mostly confined to a single town.

  • Yes, out of sight & out of mind. We shun them and rightly so.

  • No, every state has a criminal underclass.

  • No, they're people too... poorly bred perhaps but that's not their fault.

Would have thought the 4 he kicked earlier in the year was more worthy than the bruise free dead rubber that was the last game.
Dead rubber or not he was easily best on.

I think him getting the captaincy with Hodgey still in the team was a bit silly- hard to be a real on field leader under those circumstances, 2018 will see him back to his coleman winning best form.

You went from straight setters to being totally pathetic in just a year flog. :D
Totally pathetic we finished a game and a half out of the 8 after putting the cue in the rack.

It wasn't that long ago when Geelong straight setted and then missed the 8. The difference is Geelong topped up with 27+yo's and Hawks will target the 22-23yo bracket.

We targeted that age bracket because it was the age bracket we were deficient in.

Hawks look like they've gone the Collingwood route of just getting players cos you can, not because you need them. You only have to look at Vickery and Mayne to see the similarities.

Now that all the big names are gone the Hawks will happily pick over the FA scraps and pretend they're a destination club.

Cats on the other hand will target players that fit a specific need.

I'd expect better from you. We had a full forward who missed a year with a PCL, and then a re-occurrence of cancer for christ's sake, and then our 2nd ruckman went down with an ACL. We needed a ruck/forward type player, and unfortunately these do not grow on trees. Vickery has been a massive bust, but there was a strategic list management decision around why we brought him in.

Comparing this to Chris Mayne is just silly. For starters, we only committed to 2 years, and not 4 years on the same coin, and we did it because we had a specific list need to cover, not just 'cos we can'.

Ignoring the fact we picked up Mitchell and O'Meara. Getting Vickery was more about Ceglar being out for the year, and question marks over Roughy, whilst McEvoy struggled with a back injury.

A better articulated comparison would've mentioned the recruiting of Ricky Henderson, but you never disappoint with drivel Chappyuk.

I'm not ignoring Mitchell and JOM. Opposition coaches however.
