Nearly as limited as my 2010 crows players with Talia and Laird gone.
I'm in the same boat with Port Power. Lucky I snared Rory Laird. Draft competition aside, he is a gun!!

You keep saying it long enough....
Yep, he can play, but his Rory namesake is the best Rory.

Bruce Comben.
Back Pocket, 1950s.
Carlton Team of the Centry Back Pocket
Best and Fairest Winner
Victorian State Captain.

Known as 'Bugsy', Bruce Comben was a tough, determined and highly talented back pocket specialist who gave sterling service to Carlton during an unusually inauspicious era for the club. Between 1950 and 1961 he played a total of 188 VFL games, and was captain from 1958 to 1960. During the 1960 season he suffered the ignominy of captaining the first ever VFL representative team to lose against Tasmania. However, a more fitting testimonial was accorded when he was selected in the back pocket in Carlton's official 'Team of the Twentieth Century'. Between 1970 and 1972 Comben coached Werribee in the VFA's second division, but the side struggled, winning just nine and drawing one of its 54 matches over the three years. - See more at: http://australianfootball.com/players/player/bruce+comben/7886#sthash.cVKVLEJW.dpuf

So what comp do we do in 12m time?
Geelong players
Non Geelong players
What next?
Well that depends How much work you want to put in, how about non-AFL/VFL?

That would require a lot of research and move beyond people's comfortable knowledge base.

In the spirit of the competition, I wont pick a Spurr or a Weller, but I will pick a player with the ability to be elite but never had that dream met due to being cut down by the dreadful multiple knee reconstruction.

Anthony Morabito Fremantle debuted 2010

Career highlights

After 1369 days and three knee re-constructions, Morabito returned in Round 16 of the 2014 season against Melbourne in Darwin. Coming on as the substitute, Morabito showed promising signs he could re-capture the form shown in his first season, collecting 8 disposals in just over a quarter of football. Interestingly, the substitute rule did not exist the last time Morabito had played for Fremantle.

After missing all of 2015, he was delisted in October, however, he was re-drafted in the 2016 rookie draft.[23] He was however, delisted again at the conclusion of the 2016 season after failing to play an AFL match during the season

Every chance then he'll end up on Geelong's list. I almost hope this happens. Love to see him play in the hoops with a free run. Stylish player that belongs in the hoops.

Jasper Pittard debuted with Port Power in 2011. He is an athletic and versatile player whose kicking skills and ability to read the play can hurt the opposition. The left-footer can also provide plenty of run from defence.

In early 2010, Pittard decided to shorten his surname by dropping "McMillan" for simplicity.

I think that would see me be a spectator. I love history of footy , but this comp was a lot more computer duties than I'm used to. Long way off though. Let's see.

Found connection. My vote for next year is decade teams. Cap it at 10 participants. I'd probably pass on playing as there are far better historians here than me. For example, just a best 22 from the 90s. Obviously wouldn't have the overall team class as a comp like this, but on pure memories of the players I think it could be really fun.

The research is more rewarding than I anticipated, and a good time of year- relatively not mad busy.
