We're currently 6-5, well on track to meet our preseason goal of finishing the season with a 7-7 record.

Interestingly, all 6 wins have come against teams below us, and the 5 losses were against teams above us. We have one game against a team above us (next week vs Vic Uni) and 2 against a team below us (oddly enough, play the Eastern Devils twice in a row to finish the season).

Could be a mini-elimination final this week. We're currently 6th with a 6-5 record, while VU Western Spurs are 5th with a 7-4. We have 2 games against the 7th placed Eastern Devils in the last fortnight, while VU play 4th placed St.Kilda and 1st placed Darebin on the run home.

(This is assuming there's a final 5 in the VFLW)

This is what sucks about expansion not happening next year.
We lose some great players to other clubs. But great news for Erin

The AFL should hurry up with the expansion news, because while it won't be happening next year it might mean that some players could decide to stick it out at this level for another 12 months to stay with their current team.

Would also be good if the future teams (fingers crossed that includes us) are permitted to offer them conditional contacts that extend to the first year of competing in the league so that squads could start to be built and players aren't lost to the teams who helped with their development.

That's just too logical.

For the 2nd weekend in a row, all 3 Geelong sides have recorded a win, with the VFLW side running out winners over Eastern Devils 11.8.74 to 4.5.29.

Goalscorers: Kate Darby 4, Danielle Higgins 2, Alisha Habib 2, Richelle Cranston, Hannah Burchell, Maddie Boyd.

We play the Devils again next week, and need to win and hope the 8th placed Cranbourne upset the 4th placed St.Kilda to sneak into the finals. Regardless of whether we make the finals or not, we've already exceeded our expectations of finishing the season with 7 wins.

From the article linked a couple of posts above:

The commission will sit in Geelong next week where it will hear recommendations from AFL executive Andrew Dillon about the makeup of the 2019 season.

If the commission comes to Geelong to hear recommendations and then decides to not give us a team it really is a kick in the guts - probably means they will do just that now

mithem get injured?

Girls are currently leading the Eastern Devils 3.3.21 to 1.4.10 midway through the 3rd term. Unfortunately we won't be making finals - we needed St.Kilda to lose to Cranbourne as well, and they're currently up 65-0. Still, if we hang on to win, a 9 win season is a great effort, considering we were aiming to break even over the 14 round season.
