Bombers don't look as bad as what they're been made out. Some good signs for them this year.

Its preseason though, this is when you should be up and about.

Its when its around Rd 11 and the grind has set in and you have lost a few in a row that it becomes the challenge, and thats when Essendon fall over.

Where we grind those wins and solidify finals, thats where they bottle matches. That peak stretch last season saw them lose to the Lions by 63, lose to a struggling Giants by 4, draw with a struggling GCS, lost to the Saints by 6 goals and then lose to Richmond. They then end the season with a 4 game losing streak against the Eagles, Geelong, Power and Melbourne.

Had they got wins against the Giants, the Suns, the Eagles (match was at the Gabba) and Melbourne they end up on 10 wins and sneak into finals. Add in they nearly upset Richmond (2 goal loss) and they end up with a home final.

Not having a decent back up ruck is going to * us at some point this year.

If SDK isn't in the senior team they need to either have him in the gym or in the ruck in the VFL because if Stanley goes down long term and we have to rely on Blicavs and Esava we aren't making another GF.

We should have been spanked tonight. Its also no coincidence that a team doing the Richmond bullshit of play on at all costs, knock the ball forward in contests etc and we just don't cope with it.

That last ball came from knocking it forward, Smith fumbling, free kick and quick movement for a goal.

I hope we have a plan B in our back pocket or Richmond will turn us over again.
