Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

It was good, but I think the one where he did his knee in the first half then went forward and kicked 5 was better.
Prelim against the enemy, under the pump - this one is a bigger game performance.

30+ disposals, 20 contested, 13 score involvements, 3 goals, 2 goal assists and many game breaking clearances in a prelim to turn the tide is as good as it gets.

Haven't watched the full reply yet.... Only Q1
Observations watching game live.
Left for game before Game Day thread was posted
Game unfolded as noted in my Game Preview post
Hawks have been playing on hype for weeks now
As expected the hawks got off to a flying start
Cats looked rattled and made numerous clangers
Always one bad game and better that it's over
Once Cats applied the intense defensive pressure
Hawks fast running on hype game was shut down.
Cats answered every goal with some amazing goals
Without the hype and Adrenalin, they were spent.
Hawk fans started leaving early in the last quarter.

Had the feeling that midway Q3 Cats youngsters lifted.
Everyone responded to Danger's superhuman efforts.
Realization that they were good enough to win a flag.
Displaying an assurance of transition from Boys to Men.
There is a resolve, belief and deep bond in this squad.
Anything is possible.... Get on board

Several days later and it just feels so good to have sent Hawthorn packing in a Prelim final. Those ghosts have been hanging around for so many years. But in truth, we've been a better team for a long time.

It's lovely to finally have the game result to point to. A better team, with a better coach, winning the big ones.

👌

Also as a humorous side note - the Richmond board have added 60 pages to their opposition discussion thread in the last day or two, and so much of it is anti-Geelong vitriol. 🤣😍 You love to see it.

Chris Scott has wrestled control of finals back from the Hawks.

We are now 3-2 in finals against Hawthorn since he took charge. It was 0-2 for Bomber Thompson. 0-2 for Malcolm Blight.

Our record against Hawthorn since their last flag in 2015 is 12-4. We own them and there is only one club their supporters are currently anguished by. Mitchell's mood reflects all of those who follow their club. Geelong are "annoyingly good".

I believe it was stated that it was the highest rated prelim on record(2010 onwards)

Anyone else believe Danger has primed
himself to go out in a blaze of glory?
He wants to be a Premiership Captain.
Win a Normie to be among "Great Ones"
... before hanging up his boots?

Yeah I'm on board with him going out in a premiership blaze of glory after going back to back next year

Danger has stated he wants to play as long as possible because you are a long-time retired.

I think he will join the 400 club.

A win next week + normy would be huge for his legacy.

He'd basically have ticked everything off if that happens and IMO rightfully start being rated as one of the greats of all-time.

No player in the history of the game has retired after dominating a final like that. He also has a contract next year.

I WANT Danger to continue to play as long as we can wheel him out and prop him up, but if we do go and win the flag (lol if, sorry, I mean when) and he has another vintage performance on the way to a Norm Smith as Premiership Captain, my god what better way to finish a brilliant Hall of Fame Legendary career.

Where it differs to Selwood is that Joel's body was hanging on by a thread. He knew the cliff had arrived and he couldn't play another position.

Dangerfield through freakishness and his forward capability is still firing on all cylinders. He will not hang them up if he feels he can deliver to a high level.

It's unbelievable he could pull out what he did Friday night at his age

My weird brain always asks itself questions.. Here it is.

If you could choose to win the GF now + Danger NS, but Danger hangs them up if you decide yes... Yes or No?

I'm struggling with that one.

No I'm happy with Dangerfield being 2nd BOG in this and next year's grand final as we go back to back.
