Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

I find it funny when oppo whingers think we must have some mysterious salary cap because there's no way we can be under it with our absolute stacked superstar team
Many times, we grab them before they are stars (Stengle, Mannagh etc.) or we make them stars (Miers, Dempsey, COS etc.; Thanks to Nigel, our Master Craftsman).

lso as a humorous side note - the Richmond board have added 60 pages to their opposition discussion thread in the last day or two, and so much of it is anti-Geelong vitriol. 🤣😍 You love to see it.
Unable to decide between "Mass hysteria" or "Mass psychosis" to describe it. Thoughts and Prayers.

the same conspiracies pop up in any sport where one team has a longer than usual period of sustained success. People cry foul as a coping mechanism because the team in questions couldn't possibly be well run enough to continue to achieve success. It screams cooker/low IQ and that's how I treat them ;)

Even Dermott Brereton was talking CottonOn and farms yesterday on the radio.

He'd wanna know something or he is just straight up nuffy talking.

If you have heard him talk you know which it is.

He is an artform on trying to sound sophisticated and yet is completely dumb.

Dermott is fluent in Nuffy.

Jhye Clark is on the Sunday Footy Show now - says Danger shot him a text last night along the lines of “enjoy every moment of the week, next Saturday might be the best day of your life.” 🥰
The way he carries himself and that other players adore him really gets me in the feels. What a privilege we have been given.

Where it differs to Selwood is that Joel's body was hanging on by a thread. He knew the cliff had arrived and he couldn't play another position.

Dangerfield through freakishness and his forward capability is still firing on all cylinders. He will not hang them up if he feels he can deliver to a high level.

100%, it would just be so poetic to go out that way.
The way he is playing though suggests 400 isn't just a chance, but a formality.

You can see his granddaughter (?) was already not looking forward to the uber ride home

What they don't have, I think, is the quality of some of our players; they don't have the psychological drive we have. We've beaten Geelong Hawthorn when it matters.

First photo looks like he’s picking his nose 😹 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🤭

Video, Baz is getting a lot of love from his teammates. He’s hit his groove at Geelong, seamlessly 😻

Imagine if Baz won the Brownlow?
(Make it so!) 🤞🏻 🤞🏻 🤞🏻

The last thing we need is for Smith to win the Brownlow.

I don't know if this has already been discussed, but On the "round so far" segment on the AFL website, it mentioned Jack Martin has a calf complaint.

Has there been anything from the club on this?

Was apparently getting treatment on a calf in the last quarter (haven’t watched replay / seen footage), but came back on the ground so presume everything is fine. No way we would have sent him back out there when we had a comfortable lead, given his history, if there was even a 5% doubt.

Ok that's good then.

Thanks.

I heard something on a broadcast about this on Saturday morning. They said he had calf tightness and his calf was strapped after the game but I haven't heard anything else since. I haven't gone back to watch after the game to see if he really did have it strapped or not either..

He pulled up from a contest and looked sore, but he is made of glass and it has probably happened every game since he moved to the fowardline

In the end we won, so it doesn't matter and this is honestly quite petty. But I do have to say this:

It was our home game yes?

So why did the Hawks enter the ground with a grand fireworks entry?

Why, after Hawthorn kicked a goal, was the screens around the ground lit up in Hawks colours with their "make a noise" rubbish or whatever it was?

Pisses me off.
Thats interesting. They wouldn't do it if a team played interstate, so why in this situation?

I WANT Danger to continue to play as long as we can wheel him out and prop him up, but if we do go and win the flag (lol if, sorry, I mean when) and he has another vintage performance on the way to a Norm Smith as Premiership Captain, my god what better way to finish a brilliant Hall of Fame Legendary career.
When the time comes we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better. Stronger. Faster.

I’ve always taken champion data stats with a grain of salt but I must say the player ratings are a load of old toss. On TRAF They showed that Dangers game was rated the 5th best in a performance in a final since 2015… Chad Warner’s 2022 GF was rated 3rd. What the hell kind of metrics are they using?!
