Geelong pushed huge numbers behind the ball all day.

They ran back hard and this created loose Geelong players in the Port forwardline. It also forced Port wide and pushed them to the wings.

Geelong would win the footy in their backline and look up with a clear corridor and open forward-line ahead of them.

Their half-backs and midfielders would run and carry the footy out of defence, and their half-forwards would have surged forward into space, ready to receive the footy and goal.

Worked beautifully ... and was nothing like how GT's sides played. Firstly they did not have that level of sophistication, and secondly we did not use those tactics.

Much closer to Ross Lyon ... watch St Kilda vs. Fremantle from late in 2007, and then compare it to the GF. Very similar tactics.

Della, well done cats on the GF win, good for you.

Don't come in here and say you have not had draft concessions. The amount of Father-Sons picks you have recieved is obscene.

You were in a worse position than us last year, but you were injury free this year, which helped you take it out.

We have NEVER received a draft concession. We are the ONLY club to have NEVER finished lower than 12th. The only top five pick(Brad Ottens at pick 2) we have is from a trade with Richmond when he was supposedly broken down and injury prone.

The only one of our father son picks that was thought to be worth a top 20 pick is Tom Hawkins(top 3), we took failed punts with Marc Woolnough, David Clarke and, probably, Tim Callan. Mark Blake, Matthew Scarlett, Gary and Nathan Ablett were all thought of as mediocre or seriously questioned at the time of their respective drafts.

The father son rule has certainly benefited our club but that is as much luck and brilliant recruiting than anything. What we have done with a list that contains two pick 7's and two 8's(if memory serves) and the rest drifting quite a way out is outstanding. We have not once bottomed out and we are the Premiers and have the best list in the country.

That really looked a bit like a GT special yesterday.
Gotta love St Kilda supporters. They think that ther ideas are so ground breaking, that their club culture and ethos is so admirable, that every other club wants to emulate them.

Well, why dont they try winning a few matches with these breakthrough game plans that all other teams need to copy?

Hey S "Thinks he's Daicos" J: Sheesh. Take the quote in your signature out of context much?!?!?

I wanted to become a Geelong member once... but then they found out my parents weren't brother and sister (it's not hard to have great father-son rules when the son shares about 3/4 of the father's genetic make-up).
